Full Job Description
Role The Investment Manager (“IM”) will work for OEF’s Shuraako team primarily on fund related activities. The primary role of the IM is to assemble, evaluate and underwrite investment (i.e. loans, other types of investments) packages, perform full due diligence including credit and financial analysis, do background checks, structure investments, write and prepare investment memorandums and present to an investor committee for approval. The IM role may include other duties and responsibilities as required.   Reports To                              Director of Shuraako   Job Type Salaried; Exempt; Full-time   Location Broomfield, Colorado   Duties
  • Request, receive and review investment applications for completeness and adherence to internal guidelines and legal requirements
  • Conduct full due diligence, including credit and financial analysis, on submitted investment applications
  • Perform Integrity Risk Officer function for fund activities
  • Perform background checks on applicants and associated entities
  • Communicate and coordinate with Shuraako’s Somali team (via email and phone calls in English) to obtain additional required information as necessary
  • Write investment memorandums
  • Present completed investment memorandums to an investor committee
  • Prepare term sheets and loan agreements for approved investments
  • Coordinate with legal advisors, where required
  • Create and maintain orderly records of all due diligence and post-approval items (business plans, financials, financial models, term sheets, loan agreements, etc.)
  • Coordinate with accounting department to facilitate investment wires
  • Assist with inbound/outbound investment cash flow tracking
  • Assist with analysis, implementation and management of credit guarantee programs
  • Provide assistance where needed to support other Shuraako staff
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as required
  Skills/Qualifications
  • Minimum two years’ experience in business credit evaluation and underwriting for a domestic/international commercial bank, investment fund or equivalent
  • Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree, with a preference given to those with MBAs, CPAs, and/or CFAs
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work independently with a high quality work output
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Must have the ability, understanding, patience and wherewithal to operate and adapt to a complex and uncertain environment
  • Prior experience in fund compliance, anti-money laundering, know-your-client issues, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist highly desired
  • Must have strong business writing skills
  • Must possess substantial experience with MS Office Suite (in particular Word and Excel).
  • Must possess excellent financial modeling skills
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically on an as needed basis.
  • Highly desired:
    • Experience or knowledge of Islamic Finance/Sharia compliant financing
    • Prior experience in emerging and/or frontier markets
    • Prior experience with a Fund

Physical Work Demands:
  • Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
