BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The National Category Sales Manager (NCSM) is accountable for delivering and maintaining the overall business plan required to achieve the volume, share, and sales goals for the assigned brands. The incumbent collaborates with marketing and sales in the development of the business plan, sets and deploys brand specific volume and trade strategies for Sr. Sales Directors. The National Category Sales Manager manages allocation of trade dollars to achieve plan and creates sales solution collateral to reach business objectives on assigned brands. The NCSM is also the key contact for plan allocation to the key customer teams. This position is critical in building brand sales plan, market development strategies for assigned brands and driving the trade execution through increased trade promotion efficiencies. Develops and shares category expertise and knowledge.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide brand, category, customer, market, and industry knowledge during the development of the volume and trade plan.
- Create field ready sales solutions (category assessments/selling stories) that can be utilized/leveraged by the field sales team to support the presentations and discussions they will have with their customers.
- Lead the strategic planning process between the Brand Marketing team and the entire field sales organization including field directors, managers, reps and customer marketing managers.
- Deliver the category objectives, volume plans within the agreed upon trade budgets. Build and allocate the volume objectives and trade budgets for the brands under their responsibility on a macro level and down to each customer.
- Control the trade budget for their respective brands and deliver against the established trade promotion efficiency benchmarks.
- Work in a consultative role collaborating the customer, competitive analysis and category trends for their marketing counterparts as well as other functions in the organization; acquisition team, new product development team, senior management.
- Manage the overall trade promotion budget for their assigned products and categories.
QUALIFICATIONS:Â
Required:
- A bachelor's degree
- 2+ years sales/analytics experience
- Proficient in working with IRi/Nielsen/SPINS data
- A pattern of initiative.
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects.
- Well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills and analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to present to and negotiate with the customer.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States
