GearJunkie.com, the leader in outdoor sports news, gear coverage, and reviews, seeks a full time reporter to join its Denver-based editorial team. We need a hard-working reporter with a nose for news and good understanding of the outdoors industry to dig for untold stories in the outdoors world.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoors sports and gear. They live for rock climbing, hiking, camping, skiing, and biking. Or they spend the weekends trying the latest fishing rods and waders, then sharing their experiences with the world.

Responsibilities

• Pitch unique stories that will engage readers

• Cover breaking news through blogs and interviews

• Write and publish 1-2 stories per day

• Photoshop proficiency needed

• 8am-4pm hours in the GJ Denver office

• Copywrite daily column stories following a consistent formula

• Appear in video and live broadcasts monthly

• Edit articles written by freelancers and other staff

• Attend press trips/events as scheduled

• Attend and cover industry trade shows

Qualifications

• College degree in Journalism/Communications/English or similar

• At least 1 year experience in journalism (internship experience considered)

• Deep understanding of several outdoors sports

• Strong on-camera presence for broadcast when needed

• Knows AP Style inside and out, excellent writing skills

• Good photography skills a plus

• Familiarity of WordPress content management system

• Must be self-motivated and flexible to a fast-paced media environment

• This is a full-time position in the Denver office

• Willingness to travel 10-20%

• Strong workflow and organizational skills
