Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a reliable and thorough R&D Food/Lab Technician to join our Research and Development team. In this role, you will assist with multiple projects, ensuring the requirements of each are met with the highest degree of accuracy and efficiency; directly assisting and reporting activities to the Director of Research and Development. To succeed in this position, you will be able to work individually and collaboratively, have excellent analytical thinking skills, and be highly organized.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide assistance in research and development, production technology, and quality control.
  • Will carry out tests; record and store test results.
  • Analytical testing including sensory, physical, chemical, evaluation of raw material, in process, and/or finished products following SOP and specifications.
  • Help in sample preparation, panel testing, and formulation.
  • Maintain raw material, ingredients samples, and finished product specifications. Keep Vendor documents up to date.
  • Maintain laboratory data, files, supplies, and calibrate equipment on a regular schedule as well as maintaining databases.
  • Help trouble shooting quality problems in production.
  • Clean laboratory equipment and working area.
  • Maintain inventories in laboratory.
  • Follows all good manufacturing practices, quality, safety, and company protocols, and procedures.
  • Other duties and Special projects assigned as needed.

Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in food sciences / culinary, chemistry or biology, prefer degrees in food science with 2 years of experience developing products in the food or beverage industry (or similar).
  • Hands-on knowledge of food science, health, and nutrition, food manufacturing processes, quality assurance principles, and ingredient supply market. (Preferred)
  • Ability to work in a lab and manufacturing scale environments
  • Good documentation and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for the duration of the shift. 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Google programs, including Sheets, Docs, and Slides. (Preferred)
  • Requirements include good communication skills, and knowledge of lab / kitchen equipment.
  • Take initiative and proactive attitude.
  • Good interpersonal skills, positive, can-do attitude and an interest in working with teams are required.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to solve basic to medium math problems.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly with regard to experiment design, health, safety and hygiene.
  • Being a confident independent worker.
  • Flexible availability.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, effectively under pressure, and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.

Experience:

  • Laboratory: 1 year (Preferred but not required) We will train the right individual 
  • R&D food: 1 year (Preferred but not required) We will train the right individual 
  • Culinary: 1 year (Preferred but not required)  

Job Type: Full / Part time / Contract positions available

Salary: Compensation varies depending upon experience
