Full Job Description

The Leeds School and Office of Advancement at the University of Colorado Boulder invite applications for an Assistant Director of Development. This position is a primary front-line development officer responsible for successfully engaging constituents and soliciting their philanthropic support in a way that is both exceptionally donor centered and that impacts the strategic vision of the Leeds School. This role requires a minimum of 2 years front line face-to-face fundraising, sales, public relations, or transferable relationship management experience, preferably in a University setting. The assistant director will be focused on growing an existing portfolio of relationships capable of making commitments of $25,000 and higher. This position typically handles early and mid-level, moderately complex donor and prospective donor relationships, with the intent of cultivating, sustaining and increasing their engagement and investment. Significant discovery and qualification opportunities exist, and should be an important and expected part of this role.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development will join a dynamic growing team of Advancement professionals devoted to securing support for the Leeds School of Business’s ambitious goals. Through exceptional writing, project management, and customer service, this team member will focus on partnerships with the dean’s administration, faculty and staff as we seek to expand philanthropic support for the school’s strategic priorities.
 
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Work to cultivate existing and new donor relationships with the intent of sustaining and increasing donor engagement and support.
  • Develop and manages a portfolio of prospects capable of making significant gifts in order to secure gift commitments (at least $25k).  Aggressively strive to meet and exceed measurable targets for each fiscal year (e.g., personal visits, stewardship activities, solicitations).
  • Build solid working relationships with Leeds School faculty, staff and other key personnel to achieve successful fundraising; nurtures culture of philanthropic support. Work to further the goals of the Leeds School by effectively motivating and engaging volunteers, as appropriate. 
  • Work daily to ensure timely, accurate completion of proposals, pledges and fund agreements.  Documents prospect strategies and contact reports, evaluates new prospects and generates stewardship reports and general correspondence daily to cultivate major gift prospects.
  • Represent the Leeds School and Advancement at University events in order to support the University and cultivate donors.

What We Require 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of fundraising, sales, or public relations experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
