One of the finest mountain shops in the country, Neptune Mountaineering based in Boulder, CO, has an excellent opportunity available for a Marketing Coordinator.

The ideal applicant will be highly organized, a great communicator and must to be able to balance the need for daily creativity with the discipline to handle the organizational aspects of the job. They will also have a high degree of personal initiative and excellent time management skills, both of which are vital to meet the many deadlines inherent to this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the master promotional calendar specifically for planning out the weekly community events and the seasonal in-store sales and promotions held throughout the year
  • Collaborate with management and buyers to understand and deliver the necessary marketing support for sales initiatives, events and promotions
  • Find and schedule a variety of speakers, presenters, non-profit organizations within the sphere of outdoor adventures, recreational access, environmental conservation or related topics that our customers care about
  • Coordinate all aspects of the events from ticketing, AV set up, chairs, tables and/or tent set up and take down and that any other event amenities are in place
  • Create and execute the email marketing campaigns to publicize events and promotions to our customer base
  • Manage the customer email database, regularly updating and segmenting our lists
  • Utilizing our customer loyalty app, create and manage the various promotion codes and member rewards programs
  • Manage social media channels including creating and scheduling posts and ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram to promote our events, sales, new arrivals, and general store awareness
  • When needed, assist the marketing director with print advertising campaigns and help coordinate the execution of them
  • Ensure all marketing deliverables are created in a timely manner and are within budget
  • Capture and analyze data on social media activity and report relevant metrics such as engagement to gauge successes and to provide input on improving or adjusting strategies
  • Assist with website content accuracy; ensure that all images, video, copy and technical specs on our website are up-to-date and accurate
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate has the following attributes:

  • Minimum of 2 years of marketing experience and/or event planning is desired
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; background in project management or other deadline driven work experience
  • Effective public presentation skills and comfortable in a customer-facing setting
  • Experience creating successful email marketing campaigns utilizing segmentation as well as analytics is essential; background with HTML/CSS and automation tools is a plus
  • Excellent written communication skills; ability to consistently convey the brand ‘voice’ creatively and authentically in all communications
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite apps – especially Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design.
  • Fluent with digital marketing tools such as Facebook Ads Manager and Google Analytics; knowledge and experience with Google AdWords would be a plus
  • Experience with e-commerce and content management platforms such as Magento or Shopify
  • Must be highly organized, with the ability to work independently and to manage sometimes competing priorities within tight deadlines
  • Must possess a high level of personal initiative and be compulsive about quality in everything they do.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field, or equivalent job experience in a similar role.​ 
  • Being a passionate user of the kinds of outdoor gear we sell would be a huge plus
