ACCOUNTANT

The Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will play a key financial role in the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Accountant will cover a variety of responsibilities in a growing and fast-paced company. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, analytical, technically savvy, operationally astute and highly collaborative, with a keen eye for automating processes and creating efficiencies to assist in scaling a high-growth business. Duties include assisting the Controller and Accounts Payable Manager with the following:
- Process invoices, expense reports and check requests accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure correct coding for proper entry into financial system
- Work closely with departments on invoice details, questions or discrepancies
- Set up new vendors and initiate EFT and wire transfers as needed
- Reviews transaction, account balances and financial reports for reasonableness and accuracy
- Assist with the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, for consolidation with our public parent company and related management reports
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing process and propose journal entries
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts and propose journal entries
- Assist the Controller with managing requests from auditors
- Assist Controller with monthly accruals, fixed assets and expense allocation
- Work with Controller on the design and monitoring of internal control system
- Lead potential Vendor Management System effort
- Assist in reviewing, development and improving policies and procedures, including SOX controls
- Assist with bi-monthly payroll
- Create procedures manual
- Contribute to Great Plains integration
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned
GENERAL
- Challenge existing processes and streamline or develop new ones where appropriate to facilitate future growth of the business while driving value throughout the organization.
- Enhance and develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 3–5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting knowledge
- Understanding of SOX compliance
- Experience in using accounting systems including but not limited to Quickbooks and Great Plains
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, including creating/modifying complex formulas
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively, highly driven, self-motivated, and independent
- Strong attention to detail; strong organizational skills
- Possess a demonstrated passion for travel/tourism, nature/wildlife or related fields. International travel experience preferred but not required
PREFERENCES
- System implementation experience preferred (Great Plains)
- CPA and public accounting experience
Salary commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience.
