The Cost Accountant will work in a fast-paced environment directly with the Manager, Accounting-G/L. He/she needs to demonstrate initiative and technical competence to handle duties related to the month-end closing, annual audit, financial reporting, reconciliations and analysis for the Finance Department.

What You'll Do

• Monitor, review and reconcile inventory accounts.
• Coordinate efforts associated with monthly cycle count and periodic physical inventories.
• Assist an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
• Responsible for monitoring, reviewing and closing manufacturing work orders.
• Assist with Product Costing Activities.
• Support the monthly close process including accruals, spending allocations, and investigation of any manufacturing variances.
• Provide detailed analysis on manufacturing variances to standard, including those related to purchase price, production, cycle count, scrap, inventory revaluations and absorption.
• Assist in the establishment, review and maintenance of estimated effort allocations to manufacturing work centers and development cost centers.
• Develop tools and processes to improve the gathering and preparation of financial information to ensure that all submission requirements are met.
• Ensure that business decisions make good business sense and are based on the appropriate level of financial analysis.
• Help prepare long term and short term forecast of inventory and cost of goods sold.
• Contribute to creating budgets and ensure production costs remain within budget.
• Proactive communication of issues and opportunities to the management team.
• Perform special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of US GAAP and possibly SEC reporting requirements.
• Work with the GL Accounting Manager ensure an accurate and timely year end audit.

What You Have

• Advanced computers skills on G-Suite, MS Office, ERP and database.
• Ability to manipulate large amounts of data in a complicated entity structure.
• Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
• Strong cost accounting experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Success in a fast-paced, startup environment.
• Proven track record of cross functional relationships across the organization.
• ERP System experience with Odoo a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
• 2+ years experience in general accounting or cost accounting.

Working Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers and filing cabinets.

Job Requirements

• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, use hands and fingers for data entry for 8 hours or more, some lifting, squatting, bending, some pushing and pulling.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
• Must pass a background check with the San Jose Police Department.
