We are seeking a department leader who is passionate about organic produce, skilled in merchandising, and is delighted to lead our produce team in providing our guests with a world-class shopping experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and execute excellent retail operational standards throughout the Produce Department
- Maintain correct product mix and inventory levels using Alfalfa's established procedures
- Ensure all products received are of the highest quality, best price, and are stored and labeled properly
- Oversee stocking and merchandising of produce that delight our customers
- Ensure returns and credits are handled properly
- Monitor and document shrink
- Create a schedule that maximizes efficiency, customer service, and team wellness
- Establish and maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized shopping and work area
- Conduct and direct ongoing inventories
- Achieve targeted sales, margin, and labor goals
- Assist and execute merchandising and promotional strategies for the department
- Administer performance reviews and set merit increases in a timely manner
We are looking for a person with 3-5 solid years experience managing a produce department, is passionate about local and organic produce, comes with strong buying skills, and demonstrates an understanding of labor budgets and margins, along with excellent communication skills.
