The product/technical copywriter position at The Pro’s Closet is a full-time position based out of our Boulder, CO location. The copywriter will be a member of the marketing team but will work closely with the website posting team. The copywriter will be responsible primarily for writing bike texts which are concise, highly informative, and easy to understand.
This position requires an experienced, talented, and motivated copywriter with a passion for bikes of all types. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in writing cycling-related copy for media or industry-specific e-commerce businesses. The ability to communicate complex technical aspects of bikes and cycling components and the user advantages of those aspects is a must. The goal of this position is to provide the best and most informative user-experience possible through clear, concise, jargon-free writing. A background in journalism and a university degree in journalism/English are distinct advantages.
While this job will focus primarily on copy-writing for bikes of all disciplines, copy for bike components, accessories, and apparel may also be required. It may also be required of this position that texts for website SEO page titles and website meta-descriptions are written.
Primary responsibilities
• Daily writing of high-quality, creative, and informative bike (and possibly other product) text descriptions
• Online posting of those texts through the website CMS
• Bike and bike product research
What we’re looking for
• A very good understanding of keywords, keyword research and non-technical SEO
• Deep technical knowledge of bikes, bike components, and bike brands, especially full-suspension mountain bikes and high-performance road bikes
• Ability to communicate complex technical functions in easy-to-understand texts
• Ability to quickly summarize product design advantages for end-users
• Ability to work under pressure with deadlines, and in a high-pace, start-up environment
• 2 to 3 years’ prior experience writing copy for bicycling media or bike e-commerce businesses
