SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the CFO, perform daily general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis by preparing internal/external financial reports, monthly financial analysis materials, and being a key contributor to planning and forecasting cycles. This position requires use of insightful financial analysis techniques, tools, and concepts, to provide practical counsel and recommendations to leaders in the organization that drive business results with an emphasis put on forward-looking analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare monthly consolidated financials and report on financial performance by analyzing past results, perform variance analyses, identify trends, and make recommendations for operating improvements.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses related to all aspects of actual performance, financial projections and communicate results and recommendations effectively.
- Prepare budgets and budget to actual analysis.
- Manage the Corporate Cash forecast by entity, balance sheet forecast, financial analysis, business planning and budgeting. Monitor progress and changes to cash.
- Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools, updating Key Performance Indicators.
- Record intercompany activity between National and all subsidiaries including: Intercompany costing, SGA allocations, cash transactions.
- Support the integration and standardization of finance processes for newly acquired companies.
- Ensure balance sheet account reconciliations are completed timely, fully supported and follow GAAP guidelines.
- Gather and analyze complex financial information. Summarize, model, and present such information and provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes that are aligned with the Company’s objectives.
- Collaborate with cross functional business leaders and other key stakeholders in generating reports that will help them make decisions and highlight potential issues.
- Prepare Management Discussion and Analysis on financial results and performance.
- Review and investigate accounting transactions to improve data accuracy.
- Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, ensuring timely, accurate results -complete with monitoring of performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances, etc.
- Anticipate questions about the company’s cash flow and financial results/projections, providing preemptive answers to company leadership.
- Develop General Ledger, bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, accrual entries, job costing & overhead allocations and fixed asset accounting.
- Analyze risks and opportunity considerations and draft insights to guide executives on business decisions.
- Take a lead role in working with external auditors.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s Degree preferable.
- 5-7 years of accounting experience with working knowledge of GAAP; CPA certification a plus
- Construction, manufacturing, and/or project accounting experience required
- Financial planning and forecasting experience
- Detail oriented, independent worker, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Driven by deadlines
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
