One of the finest outdoor stores in the country, Neptune Mountaineering based in Boulder, CO, has an excellent opportunity available for a marketing specialist.
This role is responsible for a wide variety of marketing initiatives including in-store presentations, email and social media marketing and sales and promotional campaigns throughout the year.
They’ll find and schedule speakers or organize other events, coordinate getting presentation details and assets, and then they’ll plan, promote and ultimately ensure the success of each event from start to finish. They’ll manage the content of our social and print advertising campaigns, as well as the content for the website.
Neptune’s marketing specialist also works in concert with our sales operations team to support a variety of sales initiatives in store, creating signage and graphics, creating promotional codes and then tracking and reporting the success of each promotion.
Because a good deal of the messaging is through social media and email, the person in this role must be very familiar with email marketing, Facebook and Instagram platforms and how to best utilize them. They must have the talent and ability to create compelling content and graphics that are true to our brand and that resonate with our community of passionate outdoor customers.
The ideal applicant will be highly organized, a great communicator and must to be able to balance the need for daily creativity with the discipline to handle the organizational aspects of the job. They will also have a high degree of personal initiative and excellent time management skills, both of which are vital to meet the many deadlines inherent to this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the marketing calendar including planning for the weekly community events, the in-store promotional events and the print and digital campaigns to support sales initiatives and promotions
- Closely collaborates with management and buyers to understand and deliver the necessary marketing support for sales initiatives, events and promotions
- Manage social media channels including creating and scheduling posts and ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram to promote our events, sales, new arrivals, and overall brand awareness
- Schedule a variety of speakers, presenters, non-profit organizations within the sphere of outdoor adventures, recreational access, environmental conservation or related topics that our customers care about
- Coordinate all aspects of events from ticketing, AV set up, chairs, tables and/or tent set up and take down and ensures that any other event amenities are in place
- Create and execute the email marketing campaigns to publicize events, sales and other promotions to our customer base
- Utilizing our customer loyalty app, create and manage the various promotion codes and member rewards programs
- Manage the advertising calendar and ensures deadlines are met and our spend is within budget
- When needed, assist the marketing director with print advertising or direct mail campaigns and help coordinate the execution of them
- Contributes to the content creation for the website; obtaining and resizing images, obtaining or creating videos, assists with copywriting and technical specs
- Coordinates with third party agencies that manage our e-commerce marketing
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate has the following attributes:
- Minimum of 2 years of marketing experience, graphic design, copywriting and/or event planning is desired
- Excellent organizational and planning skills; background in project management or other deadline driven work experience
- Effective public presentation skills and comfortable in a customer-facing setting
- Experience creating successful email marketing campaigns utilizing segmentation as well as analytics is essential; background with HTML/CSS and automation tools is a plus
- Excellent written communication skills; ability to consistently convey the brand ‘voice’ creatively and authentically in all communications
- Fluent user of the Adobe Creative Suite apps – especially In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience with digital marketing tools such as Facebook Ads Manager and Google Analytics; knowledge and experience with Google AdWords and SEO would be a plus
- Experience with e-commerce and content management platforms such as Magento or Shopify
- Must be highly organized, with the ability to work independently and to manage sometimes competing priorities within tight deadlines
- Must possess a high level of personal initiative and be compulsive about quality in everything they do.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field, or equivalent job experience in a similar role.​Â
