Full Job Description
As the Director of People Operations at Babylist, you will support our rapidly growing team of +100 employees in our Oakland headquarters, and remote locations to deliver on our mission of helping parents make decisions with confidence, connect them with their community, and feel ready for their new family member.

You will have significant opportunity to form your team and scope of work as the first dedicated member of our People team. In this hands-on role, you will flex from strategic to tactical, and be a true player-coach. You will be integral in solidifying Babylist’s people strategy, enhancing people practices & culture, and building some processes from the ground up.

What You'll Do

- Act as a strategic business partner to executive and functional leadership teams, as well as a hands-on HRBP for the company for all things people-related
- Manage and develop the Talent, People Ops and Office Management team members
- Own the delivery and effectiveness of core HR processes and responsibilities across all employee life-cycle activities such as benefits administration, compliance / policy management, and office management
- Develop and maintain programs for onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and professional development
- Proactively and thoughtfully address workplace and employee relations issues on an individual and systematic basis
- Promote a culture of learning and direct & caring feedback by providing coaching/guidance on skill-building, professional development, career pathing, change management, collaboration, and handling sticky situations to resolution
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor and employment laws and regulations; keeping up to date on legislation / policy in the industry that could impact our people strategyÂ
- Develop and manage thoughtful, scalable HR policies and practices that fairly balance the interests of all team members and are consistent with the culture of the company
- Drive company-wide initiatives to increase employee satisfaction and productivity

What You've Done

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalentÂ
- Working knowledge of HR compliance, employment laws, best practices and industry standards
- 5+ years of relevant professional work experience in field
- Experience building, leading, and managing a people operations and recruiting team in fast growing environments
- HRIS and ATS implementation experience is a bonus
- Nice to have: SHRM or other HR certification, experience managing people operations and policies for exempt and nonexempt employees, in-office and remote employees, multiple work locations
