Playing a vital role in the 828 family as well as a critical member on the Leadership Team, the VP of Marketing & Sales will provide marketing and sales vision, leadership and executional excellence.

Specific responsibilities include business and market development, industry trends, strategic direction for promotion and advertising, sales growth, innovation, as well as customer satisfaction.

This position is fast-paced and provides tremendous opportunity to be a part of an ambitious team that fosters personal development, creativity and passion. This position will also oversee the sales and marketing team’s daily activity and development.

Roles & Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with in-depth marketing and sales experience within a consumer goods or services industry.  

  • Work with the leadership team to develop the annual business plan and to drive P&L results and accountability throughout the organization
  • Work with the leadership team to shape the vision for the 828 brand and company over the next 5 years as part of long-range planning
  • Help develop and nurture a consumer-focused culture at 828
  • Determine annual budgets and resource allocation to meet marketing objectives
  • Direct integrated marketing investments across all owned, earned, and paid media channels, including social media, website, affiliate websites, partnerships; oversee program execution and track the performance of marketing initiatives
  • Develop integrated marketing & sales plans with venue teams
  • Oversee market research and analysis including market segments, industry trends, competitor analysis, and consumer insights
  • Oversee relationships with agencies and brand partners
  • Oversee the planning and development of marketing and communications materials
  • Own the creative direction and visual language of the brand
  • Construct and evaluate ROI models, conduct financial/pricing analysis and forecast impact of marketing & sales strategies, campaigns and initiatives
  • Drive ongoing product innovation thorough in-depth consumer and market analysis and understanding of the economics of the business, including profitability by product and consumer, in order to maximize results and prioritize opportunities
  • Establish sales strategies and execution plans to drive occupancy of venues, including customer targets, pricing and promotions to maximize revenue and profitability
  • Build and establish long-term relationships with senior leaders in corporations located in venue-based cities such as San Diego, Indianapolis, Denver and Seattle, as well as assist sales managers in each market to drive corporate events business
  • Develop and implement training programs for sales managers and build positive relationships with current sales managers
  • Focus on strategic partnerships with wedding and events related vendors that drive growth or cost reduction to the business

Skills & Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience in marketing & sales roles within the consumer goods & services industry
  • Experience in small to mid-sized entrepreneurial companies or start-ups is preferred
  • Specializes in building awareness and trial through owned & earned media channels
  • A prolific generator of sales & marketing ideas with a willingness to experiment in a measurable way
  • Has a track record of building and maintaining healthy, constructive, collaborative relationships
  • Believes in the values that team comes first, it’s critical to stay human at all times, change is exciting and good, challenges are welcome and help drive growth, and that results are always accomplished
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with immediate resources
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Domestic travel required
