Juniper Books is a small company of fourteen employees with a big presence in the world of books and design. (juniperbooks.com) Located in Boulder, Colorado, the work environment is fast paced and highly creative. We are seeking a Director of Marketing to be part of our management team and perform a variety of responsibilities outlined below. This position will report to the Founder & CEO.
The Director of Marketing must be a believer in the important role books play in the world, a passionate custodian of the Juniper Books brand, and experienced in many areas of marketing, sales, and product development.
The ideal candidate is a team-player with a go-getter attitude, a continuous improvement mindset and the capacity to collaborate in a high-paced environment.
Duties will include:
- Clarifying, promoting, and protecting the Juniper Books brand
- Creating, launching, and evolving product offerings and their presence in five different channels: direct to consumer, trade, wholesale, custom and subscription
- Preparing plans and budget to achieve the financial goals of the company, being cognizant of mission of the company as well as the aesthetics of the brand
- Monitoring progress and reporting the outcomes of the plan and making changes as necessary
- Tracking analytics and making data-driven decisions based on past performance and the interpretation of current market trends
- Stewarding the company website ensuring ongoing functionality, accuracy, and consistency to drive sales
- Coordinating with external partners to increase Juniper Books’ presence on the web, social media, and in publications
- Producing content for the company’s online presence, including the website and social media, as well as press appearances
- Working closely with Design, Business Development, Inventory, and other teams at Juniper Books to make the best use of our resources and continue to innovate in our space
- Developing marketing staff through leadership, mentoring, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities
- Continuing to find ways to improve the company and find efficient ways to do the work
Qualifications
- 5+ years of related work experience
- Proven experience in marketing
- Experience with innovative brands is ideal
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills
- Thorough knowledge of digital marketing and web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Adwords)
- Proficient in using social media platforms
- A four-year degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, PR or related field
- Proficiency in using e-mail (Gmail), Google Drive, and Dropbox
- Exemplary communication skills - listening, speaking, writing, and editing
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, collaborative, creative environment
- Intellectual curiosity, a growth mindset, and a continuous improvement approach to life and career is essential
- Experience with Shopify and Asana a plus
- Experience with marketing and selling on Amazon a plus
