With guidance from the Director of Sales Strategy, the Sales Strategy Manager drives trade strategy and tactics across channels, ensuring execution. The SSM is a key partner to the sales team, focused on the successful planning and execution of MAPPS (Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing, Promotion, and Shelving) across customers. The SSM also partners with the brand marketing team and lends critical customer perspective for new item launches, forecasting, and general business decisions.
This role is responsible for driving and developing sales strategies, tools, and capabilities. This role will play a critical role representing sales & customers within Sovos’ cross-functional teams. She/he will be expected to grow net sales through increased distribution, promotion planning and successful new item launch campaigns for the sales teams. This role will utilize insights and analytics in partnership with the Company’s marketing team to create a strong selling story for its partners. This role also leads channel strategy and selling strategies.
This position enables growth through all classes of trade and with all Sovos Brands’ products. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Key communication link between the marketing, operations, and the sales teams on all aspects of the account relationship and brand management to ensure flawless execution.
- Develop integrated category selling presentations utilizing consumer trends, syndicated data, category insights, marketing plans designed to grow the overall category.
- Provide leadership on channel launch strategy, trade spending guidance, MAPPS tactics, packaging concerns, and insight into pipeline forecasts.
- Working with marketing and sales team in planning and executing the Shopper Marketing budget, as well as national and customer/distributor specific trade shows.
- Join account managers on customer sales calls as the brand expert.
- Maintain a high level of organization, commitment to follow through, enthusiasm and motivation, to effectively manage relationships with external sales, and internal departments.
- Collaborate with Sales Team, utilizing the total noosa yoghurt offering to meet their needs to drive sales and profitable opportunities for the category and noosa.
- Participate in routine internal processes and deliverables (AOP, MAPPS, Sell-ins, etc.)
Requirements
- BA/BS with an emphasis in Sales, or other job-related field or equivalent business experience is required.
- 5+ years experience in the consumer packaged goods industry.
- 1+ years of direct selling experience as an account manager.
- Previous experience in Sales Strategy / Trade Marketing / Customer Marketing / Category Management
- Previous work experience with syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen/SPINS)
- Innate influence management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to gain cooperation and collaborate within teams.
- Ability to be flexible and work in an environment where process isn’t always defined.
- Ability to communicate complex, detailed information to multiple audiences with differing knowledge levels, both in writing and verbally
- Have experience in calling on a customer and presenting to a buyer with the knowledge of sales terms such as MCB, OI, Scan, ROI, Lift, Margin, etc.
- Strong technical proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, OneNote).
- Possess the ability to identify and critically analyze opportunities, develop sales strategies and tactics, manage the sales and trade budgets, create and participate in key customer presentations, drive the communication process to ensure execution, and scorecard results within the category.
- Ability to work in conditions which include multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities
