As the Senior Supply Planner, you will be responsible for procuring supply to meet service and inventory objectives in Smartwool’s growing apparel and accessory business. You will work to ensure on-time deliveries from vendors and to customers, and work to resolve issues quickly and proactively while taking a leadership role in the Supply and Inventory Planning team. Key partners will include Vendors, Sourcing, Logistics, Demand Planning, Distribution, Global Brand Operations, Product Teams, and Customer Service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in building the seasonal production plan for all apparel/accessory categories and interface with vendors on capacity and production planning throughout the season to ensure timely delivery of supply.
- Direct manager to one supply planner.
- Recommend and execute product purchases based upon demand inputs and other crucial supply planning criteria (current inventory levels, vendor capacity, minimums, global buy requirements, and buy readiness). Issue purchase requisitions to Sourcing Teams.
- Track conversion of purchase requisitions to vendor purchase orders for all global regions.
- Continually monitor demand needs and supply timing to identify issues and opportunities. Adjust supply timing as needed to improve service to customers, meet inventory objectives, and maintain proper inventory mix at the SKU level.
- Collaborate with Demand Planning to forecast/prioritize demand based on supply availability.
- Provide leadership within the department to other planners as well as those outside the direct group making suggestions for and implementing process improvements as needed.
- Manage seasonal initial system set up and line plan validation within Supply Planning team.
- Manage excess raw material and finished goods liabilities at apparel/accessory vendors.
- Closely partner with cross functional stakeholders to ensure delivery of current month financial objectives.
- Support Supply Planning Manager in preparation for S&OP Supply Review meeting. Highlight issues and opportunities to drive improved supply chain operational performance and achieve business objectives.
- Participate in longer term view of supply availability taking into consideration demand needs by product type and any potential capacity or material constraints.
- Lead key projects to evolve supply chain capabilities.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.
Skills for Success:
- 5+ years of experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand, assess, & problem solve by leveraging strong technical and analytical skills

- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, proven ability to multi-task effectively

- Advanced Excel Skills (pivot tables, macros)
- Understanding of reporting tools (Cognos/Brio)
- Experience in project planning and implementation
- Self-starter with excellent follow through
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong SAP system experience
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
- Travel by air and overnight, as required less than 5% of time.
