Prime Roots is seeking a Director of Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations to scale and own the production and distribution of an innovative and sustainable new food product! At Prime Roots, we envision a delicious protein-rich future that is sustainable for environmental and human health. You will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of sustainable and delicious food innovation and be amongst a team of hardworking do-ers. You will oversee our organizational operations and be able to help propel Prime Root’s growth internally and externally.

What you'll do

• Create and scale plant operation plans for production, inventory management, quality, and maintenance.
• Control and manage plant construction for optimal output and efficiency, while properly accounting for budget and schedule.
• Build and implement processes for ingredient acquisition, production and distribution of products through multiple channels, with a mindset to optimize and enhance effectiveness, efficiency and company profitability
• Develop solutions with cross-functional partners including the product and R&D team to mitigate cost and improve quality.
• Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, and the production team
• Establish and monitor KPIs for overall success and progress of production, quality, and distribution standards.
• Oversee QA/QC, safety, and regulatory standards and certifications at the ingredient and manufacturing level to make sure we are compliant with standards like HACCP, SQF, etc.
• Build and manage a diverse team who will follow production and distribution systems, and troubleshoot operational challenges

Who you are

• You have at least 7 years working in Operations, Industrial Engineering, Management Consulting, or business-related fields. (Interdisciplinary and technical backgrounds welcome and appreciated!)
• You are logistics-minded and have a history of successfully managing cold supply chain systems and workflow processes.
• You’ve demonstrated success building and scaling food production and manufacturing, from bench to pilot, and pilot plant to full scale production. (Bonus points if that experience includes other proteins or alternative meats)
• You have experience distributing product across multiple channels, wholesale and directly to customers. (Omnichannel experience is a plus!)
• You’re a shrewd negotiator and dedicated to getting the best value and lowest cost from suppliers and vendors.
• You’re a budgeting and spreadsheets wiz, experienced with financial accounting.
• You are a detail-oriented, process-driven and data-driven individual.
• You have a deep passion for and knowledge of the food industry, experience in CPG and Food Service preferred.
