Access Fund is the national nonprofit advocacy organization that works to protect America’s outdoor climbing areas. Founded in 1991, Access Fund represents more than 7 million climbers across the country to keep climbing areas open and conserve the climbing environment. We execute on that mission across 6 core program areas including: Climbing Policy and Advocacy, Stewardship and Conservation, Local Support and Mobilization, Land Acquisition and Protection, Risk Management and Landowner Support, and Education.
Within those program areas, we maintain active Memorandums of Understanding with the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management and spend countless hours in Washington, DC representing and advocating for the interests of climbers and outdoor recreation. Access Fund is the only nationally accredited land trust working primarily for climbers. We manage three Conservation Teams who live in the field working on critical trail and stewardship projects from coast to coast. We also support a vibrant network of more than 130 local climbing organization affiliates around the country.
