Seed Angel Forum (SAF) convenes quarterly pitch events that bring rising entrepreneurs and active angel investors from across the region together. Since our inception 11 years ago, SAF has hosted 28 events in Denver, Boulder, and online, and the 159 companies that have pitched at these events have gone on to raise more than $565 million in funding - and more than 30 of them have been acquired.
Seed Angel Forum (“SAF”) is seeking 4-6 volunteer entrepreneurial Directors who are passionate about community building and excited to meaningfully contribute to the Colorado startup ecosystem.
This is far from an ordinary volunteer opportunity. SAF has become a key part of Colorado’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and as a Director you’d play a crucial role in supporting the growth of the startup community in Colorado and beyond. Learn more about Seed Angel Forum on our website: seedangel.co.
SAF events are hosted quarterly, and the organizing team works together to market the event to entrepreneurs and investors, handle logistics before, during, and after the event, select companies to pitch, develop relationships with our robust investor community, and work with our sponsors to ensure we put on engaging and effective events.
We're looking for Directors who are willing to make at least a year-long commitment to the program. The work typically requires 15+ hours per person, per quarter, and includes:
Event Coordination
- Schedule one event per quarter
- Communicate with entrepreneurs, investors, sponsors, and vendors about event logistics
- For in-person events: arrange venue, food, drinks, AV, and other logistics (washing tablecloths is a small, but important part of the job)
- Create Typeform for investors to share pitch feedback during the event
- Collect pitch decks from startups ahead of the event
- Night-of:
- Test AV
- Facilitate 1-hour long roundtable conversation with entrepreneurs and sponsors
- MC the pitch event + network with attendees
- Send follow-up emails 24-48 hours after the event to connect entrepreneurs with those investors and sponsors who asked to be connected
Entrepreneur Sourcing & Selection
- Post event applications on F6S
- Promote events
- Ask investors, alumni, key influencers to share with their networks
- Proactively market to underrepresented groups
- Share on social media and update the website using Squarespace
- Choose companies that fit with investor interest and show traction, scalability (and treat yourselves to dinner for the selection meetings)
- Conduct pitch coaching and prep calls with each selected founder in advance of the event
Investor Community Building & Communication
- Create Eventbrite for attendees
- Send invitations with a mail merge (we usually use YAMM)
- Maintain and grow the SAF network of accredited angel investors
Sponsor Support
- Build relationships with current and prospective sponsors
- Ensure we’re meeting their expectations in exchange for their annual event sponsorship
Back Office
- Maintain Seed Angel Forum’s 501c3 status
- Complete taxes on an annual basis
- Invoice and receive payment from sponsors
- Pay (and reimburse Directors for payment to) vendors
- Maintain compliance with SEC rules
