Our Staff Accountant (Trade) will help scale the Accounting functions related to trade promotions and trade deductions and support the needs of our growing company. Reporting to the Senior Manager AR, Trade and Deductions, the Trade Staff Accountant will be instrumental in collaborating and coordinating with multiple components of a growing accounting organization. Additional responsibilities include maintaining strong customer relationships (internal and external), assisting in the monthly and quarterly close and special projects as assigned. Success in this role will come from taking proactive ownership of assigned responsibilities, forging strong relationships across the organization, having high attention to detail, and having a curious mindset to continually improve.
Job responsibilities:
- Understand and optimize the day-to-day aspects of financial operations, specific to trade.
- Execute general ledger accounting including maintenance and posting to the general ledger.
- Support the month end and quarter end close and financial reporting for individual brands.
- Own tasks within the month-end/year-end close processes.
- Assist the Senior Manager Trade, AR and Deductions in continuing efforts to accelerate the accounting close process, along with automation projects, establishing and maintaining internal controls, and process improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain prepaid trade schedules on a regular basis.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Prepare and maintain trade and non-trade accrual schedules.
- Assist in researching and preparing technical accounting reports or memos based on GAAP.
- Perform account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts related to trade.
- Advise the Senior Manager Trade, AR and Deductions immediately of any errors, irregularities, significant adjustments or journal entries as they occur.
- Assist in developing procedures to improve efficiency and maintain company accounting procedures and processes.
- Ensure compliance with all internal processes, GAAP principles.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Preferred degree in Accounting or Finance
- Working knowledge of GAAP ideal.
- Ideal candidate will possess 1-2+ years’ accounting experience including strong audit experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Ross, and NetSuite preferred. Experience with other similar software systems would substitute.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
- Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to do hands-on work.

- Ability to work independently with previous remote working experience.
