Role

The Account Manager is responsible for the management, growth, and overall health of select client relationships. As a senior point of contact, the AM coordinates the resources needed to service projects, builds strategic marketing plans, and balances clients' expectations with the execution of creative work. The AM works in close collaboration with the agency's internal teams and interfaces with clients and vendors, ensuring that the work we provide to our clients is of outstanding quality and results-driven.

The AM is responsible for the management of the account support team. As a people manager, this individual is accountable for their team members' mentorship and professional development, hiring and growing their team as needed, team administrative duties, and aligning the appropriate cross-functional internal teams to deliver on client needs.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Client Services

  • Manage and lead the agency’s day-to-day efforts with key client relationships and accounts.
  • Foster relationships with senior-level clients, directors, VPs, and C-level executives.
  • Promote the expansion of business with existing clients.
  • Ensure all projects remain within outlined and agreed to budget parameters.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of, and be conversant in, assigned clients’ businesses, products, industries, and competitive landscape.

Marketing

  • Strategically advise clients and develop ideas and solutions that achieve business, marketing, and engagement objectives.
  • Translate client assignments into meaningful briefs for the internal teams and effectively balance clients and the agency's dual expectations.
  • Understanding of and ability to tie creative solutions to marketing metrics.
  • Manage various workstreams, including traditional, digital, social, content, PR, and promotional projects, including the creation of timelines, teams, and budgets.

People Management

  • Work with internal teams and external contractors to ideate and develop concepts for projects and accounts.
  • Effectively assign, delegate, coordinate, and monitor the work of agency staff members.
  • Multi-task and get the job done effectively and efficiently on time and within budget.

Supervision

  • Works independently.

Communication / Presentation

  • Participate in and lead big idea thinking sessions for the agency.
  • Effectively present strategic and integrated programs to internal and external audiences.

Other Tasks, Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations

  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 8+ years of integrated marketing/advertising agency experience managing traditional, digital, social, content, experiential, PR, and promotional projects.
  • Experience working on retail, B2B, and consumer product accounts.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team.
  • Experience creating and managing budgets for projects covering all of the above.
  • A thorough understanding of the agency process and agency/client relationship model.
  • Willing to work long hours, as well as weekends, and travel as needed.
  • A strong self-starter mentality and sense of responsibility.
  • A positive, upbeat attitude.
  • Experience in Wrike project management software is a plus.

Work Environment / Physical Activities

  • Working primarily remotely until COVID safety considerations are lifted.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to read numbers, reports, and computer terminals.
  • Occasional high-stress work may require dealing with customers/clients.
  • Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions and frustrations in making business decisions.
  • Must have a long attention span to listen to people, perceive the real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion.
  • Ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans.
  • Must understand people and be able to communicate effectively with them.
