Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced product line and brand builder. The Product/Brand Manager will be the "general manager" and champion of the company’s product line, with direct accountability for driving profitable revenue growth, market share and overall financial success. She or he will work cross-functionally to set overall objectives, create and implement strategic and tactical plans, and monitor progress. We are a young company, so this position is hand-on, requiring expertise in all aspects of product management and brand building.
Primary responsibilities
- Develop and implement business and marketing plans – annual and strategic – that define P&L and market share expectations for existing and new products and manage all marketing activities to achieve financial commitments.
- Develop and execute all elements of the traditional marketing mix including product concept and development, positioning, packaging, pricing, advertising, promotion and distribution strategies and plans.
- Lead strategic innovation by defining the overall roadmap for product development both for existing product enhancements and new products including conducting market research and partnering with Product Development/R&D to execute on product innovation priorities.
- Partner with the internal Sales team to develop plans to achieve new account distribution and support performance at key accounts including optimizing shelf positioning, developing POS materials, establishing promotion programs and costing, and building the programs to support new product launches.
- Work with broader team to provide regular, timely, and actionable analysis of all available performance data for brand and competitor performance to enable the team to develop and implement plans to expand distribution, increase unit velocity, and improve market share.
- Recruit and supervise external support agencies that provide advertising, promotion, package development, market research and other services as required.
- Build out Lily’s internal marketing team as needed.
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in product/brand management in a major CPG company including experience building new brands. Food experience is preferred.
- Expertise in developing, managing, and assessing marketing opportunities across both traditional and digital media.
- Experience in creative direction and evaluation including developing packaging briefs, communication strategy briefs, and assessing creative submissions.
- Experience identifying product opportunities and managing the entire product development process.
- Experience with conducting ‘scrappy’ market research studies including writing screeners, questionnaires, and finding research suppliers.
- Understanding of how to work with company attorneys to ensure FTC/FCC/FDA/USDA and other regulatory compliance as necessary.
