Position Description:
This part-time position will report to both the Controller and the HR Director and will have responsibilities and expectations in the following areas:
Job Requirements:
- Following established procedures, process payroll through ADP Workforce Now platform
- Accurately and timely process bi-monthly payroll
- Review electronic timesheets and correct entries as needed.
- Submit 401k submittal, tracks and reconcile account
- Perform wage recalculations
- New employee data verification
- Clears payroll discrepancies
- Create manual checks as needed
- Process garnishments as needed
- Payroll and benefit reconciliations to the general ledger
- In house expert on ever-changing payroll laws
- Administers benefits including health, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD, FSA/Dependent care, COBRA, and 401k.
- Enroll employees into benefits upon hire, open enrollment or with a qualified event
- Make changes to or terminate employee benefit coverage upon termination or with a qualified event
- Process and pay monthly benefit invoices
- Field and address payroll and benefits questions
- Working with the Controller, responds to tax related notices
- Respond to unemployment claims
- Process any termination checks
- Understand and be compliant with Employee Handbook
- Reconcile taxes reported to ADP reports as well as reconciling year end W-2’s and W-3
- Maintain supporting documentation in an organized electronic filing system
- Review new employee documents for completeness prior to set up
- Administer year end payroll and benefits processes such as reporting annual health care expenses, scheduling W-2 distribution and management, 1095 reporting and filing
- Customer service focus when interacting and communicating with staff for payroll notifications and questions
Your Critical Skills:
- Possess sound judgment along with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and dependability
- Knowledge of labor laws and benefits
- Knowledge of payroll accounting procedures including GL
- Adaptability: able to shift gears comfortably, isn’t upset when things are up in the air, doesn’t have to finish things before moving on but tracks things through to completion
- Relates well to many types of people and can build rapport in a constructive and effective way
- 3+ years of payroll and benefits experience
- Excellent problem solving ability and creative skills to adapt to a changing, growing environment
- Takes initiative and is able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Intermediate to expert level Excel capability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or commensurate work experience
- Proficient with ADP Workforce Now
