Job summary
In 2020, O2 was featured on the cover of Entrepreneur's Startups magazine, won Best Beverage Marketing Campaign of 2020, and grew our grocery business ~300% in the middle of a global pandemic. You'll make sure that was just a starting point. We are building "The Patagonia of Hydration," and we're looking for an A+ senior level Director to head our grocery channel in 2021 and beyond.
The Grocery Channel Director is responsible for leading the entire grocery business for O2, with full P&L ownership over this large and growing channel. You will build and lead a staff of territory/regional/national sales managers in the field, and you will be responsible for delivering top line revenue growth and full channel expense objectives. You will effectively be the CEO of the grocery business, and you will report directly to the CEO of O2.

Core duties and responsibilities
Leadership
- Own planning, results, staffing, and budget for entire grocery business channel with a focus on Natural and Conventional grocers
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high performing sales team to achieve targeted results
- Partner with marketing organization to ensure field sales/marketing activities are aligned and optimized at all times
Planning
- Develop plans to achieve/exceed quarterly and annual sales targets
- Develop strategic customer relationships to expand distribution in targeted areas
- Create promotional and marketing programs to drive short and long term growth
Execution
- Deliver full channel P&L quarterly and annual sales/expense objectives
- Manage best-in-class broker partners and all aspects of trade promotion
- Conduct weekly sales activity and results reporting
Your background
- 7+ years of experience scaling a high growth food/beverage brand in grocery required
- Comfortable doing, partnering, and delegating to achieve end-to-end sales objectives, with strong ability and appetite to get your hands dirty
- Demonstrated success in team leadership, budget management, business planning, and broker management at senior levels required
- Strong existing relationship with major beverage chain retailers preferred
- Experience working in a fast-growing, startup environment required
- Experience wearing multiple hats and rolling up sleeves within a remote start-up environment (no job is too small) required
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Willingness to travel (air and car) up to 50% of the time
- Experience building and maintaining “Top to Top” customer relationships
- Strong analytical skills, including syndicated data analysis (IRI and SPINS)
- US Military veteran status and/or a background in athletics is a major plus
- Willing and able to work unconventional hours (e.g., late nights, weekends)
