About the Role:

Meati is looking for a Controller to lead our Accounting function.  Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller will be responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, finance systems, and all other accounting operations. This is an exciting opportunity to build an Accounting function and team from the ground up in a mission-driven environment. We are scaling rapidly following our Series A in late 2020 and we want to bring in a leader to help us ensure that we have the right infrastructure in place to expand.

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead all core accounting processes, including A/P, A/R, and General Ledger
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist in all reporting requirements to existing and future investment partners
• Develop scalable accounting processes and internal controls, including leading ERP and other software implementations that help drive process automation
• Serve as primary internal contact for year-end audit, 409A valuations, and other related services
• Determine, define, and manage technical accounting areas (e.g., Revenue & Billing, Stock Based Compensation, etc.)
• Lead all compliance requirements, including federal/state/local tax and insurance
• Be proactive in determining process and accounting requirements that will help support all new business initiatives

Required Skills:

• 7+ years of progressive Accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other related discipline
• CPA with Big Four experience preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
• People leadership experience, particularly in a high-growth environment
• Proactive and independent thinking – we are looking for a true self-starter
• Strong communication skills and an ability to effectively translate complex information to a variety of stakeholders
• Experience building processes, controls, systems, and teams from scratch to support growth-stage companies
• Experience with ERP implementation (e.g. NetSuite)
• Experience with Food & Beverage companies is a plus
