Full Job Description

Reporting to the CFO, this individual will be responsible for directing the global accounting activities of the Company. The ideal candidate is someone who can build and inspire a high-performing accounting team, can embrace ambiguity, and loves solving problems. The candidate will possess a solid knowledge of US GAAP and international accounting standards as well as a solid background in Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and financial operations.

The candidate will possess strong management and leadership competencies gained through prior experience establishing and growing a corporate accounting department in a fast growth environment. The person must be a change agent and someone willing to establish a world-class accounting function and accounting processes and systems from an early-stage environment. The individual will need to partner across the business to ensure our systems and processes are scalable as we push towards global best-in-class operations.

Primary Job Duties

  • Establish, support, and develop a small global accounting team while driving efficiency & automation to keep up with the demands of our high-growth business.
  • Establish and document ongoing accounting processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the monthly global financial close process in an accurate and timely manner. (Owns the GL and recording of all business transactions, including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, while ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS accounting requirements, and internal policies.)
  • Responsible for annual external audit preparation and oversight.
  • Work with 3rd party experts to drive an efficient tax compliance process across our varied geographies, including income, sales and value added taxes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of key financial deliverables - KPI analyses, annual plans for forecasts and ROI assessments for various initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluation and selection of ERP solutions to best manage our business.
  • Consult on accounting impact of proposed transactions and advise on alternative deal structures.
  • Research technical accounting issues with respect to critical accounting matters.
  • If and or when appropriate, oversee the transition to US SEC reporting and prepare quarterly Form10-Q and annual Form 10-K.
  • If and or when appropriate, establish SOX compliance activities, including developing and executing internal controls.
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed.

Required Skills/ Abilities

  • Active CPA required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • Experience in multi-plant manufacturing environments.
  • A solid professional foundation in a Big Four public accounting firm with a demonstrated record of success.
  • 3+ years of experience leading an accounting team as Controller or scaled Assistant Controller positions; history with a fast growing business and PE/VC ownership is a plus.
  • Strong technical experience related to implementation of new technical standards and managing the audit process.
  • Demonstrated history of scaling and developing high performing professional accounting team in multiple locations (globally).
  • Familiarity with functional currency determinations and Global FX.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, superior financial and strategic planning skills and significant familiarity with financial statements, economic analysis, and fair value concepts.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal; able to communicate complex concepts and risk factors to stakeholders and influence decision making.
  • Experienced business partner, skilled in building trust and inspiring others while ramping up in a new business.
  • Excellent knowledge and proven track record in assessing, developing, and implementing internal controls for SOX compliance.
  • Excitement around navigating a hyper-growth, rapidly changing, and sometimes highly ambiguous environment.
  • Highly collaborative, open, and transparent. High EQ. Relationship-based. A trust builder.
  • Highest ethical standards and courageous; able to stand alone.

Preferred Skills/ Abilities

  • Strong ERP systems knowledge and implementation experience, preferably NetSuite or Dynamics.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
