Job Title: Financial Analyst Reports to: Director of Finance FLSA Status: Exempt
Your role:
The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization with regular quantitative analysis and overall financial data compliance. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance, but also works closely with the accounting team (particularly on month-end close activities) and the CFO. The Financial Analyst also frequently works cross-departmentally, providing analytical support to all teams as needed.
In this position, you will:
Month-End Close
- Assist in month-end financial reporting for Director of Finance, CFO, and third-party accountants
- Support monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations, being available to the accounting team for questions.
- Provide monthly cash reconciliation analysis and add to the overall financial model.
AP/AR
- Enter and reconcile Accounts Payable Invoices (bill.com and QB desktop) and communicate with vendors as necessary to resolve discrepancies
- Create and send Accounts Receivable Invoices (QB desktop) and follow up with vendors on past due balances
- Manage the accounting, invoicing, and payment of our mechanical royalties process
- Regular management of sales/use tax compliance
Procurement
- Collaborate with Director of Finance and Director of Supply Chain on demand planning to align purchases with production deadlines.
- Create and send all POs (purchase orders) for VMP’s three product lines – ROTM, store exclusives, and anthologies – ensuring that invoices received accurately reflect our order pricing and receipt quantities.
- Ensure POs are imported into warehouse software, Deposco, for accurate tracking
- Audit inventory receipts against POs and Invoices (3 way matching) to ensure accuracy, and communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies
Ad-hoc Analysis
- Provide ad-hoc data gathering and analysis within eCommerce (Shopify) and Warehouse/Fulfillment (Deposco) in support of cross-functional team members
- Aid in analyses of VMP’s credit lines with its largest vendors
- Assist eCommerce Manager in pricing of products sold in VMP’s online store when needed, supporting analyses to help ensure we’re meeting our target Gross Margin goals
- Provide analytical support and guidance with respect to eCommerce sales and promotions
- Perform modeling and forecasting in Excel to support quantitative analysis for the Company
Skills, experience, and qualities that will help you be successful:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or previous work experience in similar fields - background in the music industry is a plus.
- Ability to organize data for easy consumption and an eye for detail.
- Excel savvy!
- Solid understanding of GAAP accounting
- Previous experience with Sales/Use tax compliance is a bonus, but not required
- Previous experience managing Inventory will make you stand out
- Understanding of the following software programs or something similar: QuickBooks remote desktop, Bill.com, Airtable, Shopify, Chargebee, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- A continued interest in ongoing professional development and growth opportunities.
