The Role – Financial Analyst
This role is responsible for performing many of the accounting activities within the Annex. Specifically, this role will support The Annex Strategic Pillars of Ancient Grains (“AG”) and Heirloom Wheats (“HW”), as well as the bakery and mix business of IBR. This role requires knowledge and skills in business processes beyond finance and accounting to help nurture this growing business unit. The role will be part of the Ardent Mills Finance function and will report to the Annex Finance Manager. Together, they will work closely to manage financial and management reporting for The Annex and are accountable for reporting accurate, complete, and timely financial information.
This role is an excellent opportunity to expand current skillsets across all finance and accounting functions, and to gain general exposure to the broader business with a focus on the growing specialty business within Ardent Mills. This individual will partner with cross-functional teams to bring thought leadership, process improvement, and financial acumen to Ardent Mills as a whole.

Key Accountabilities
- Be a Subject-Matter Expert (“SME”) for the processes and accounting systems utilized to support the Annex’s business units in the AG, HW, and IBR spaces
- Be an active member of the Ardent Mills Finance function in supporting and enabling the achievement of our growth strategy
- Prepare month-end close journal entries for AG & HW pillars and IBR
- Identify needs and opportunities for enhancements in current financial close processes, then design and implement those, e.g., efficiencies, improved analyses, and automation to streamline manual processes
- Identify, implement, and maintain efficient and effective financial, operational, and compliance internal controls across the business’ processes
- Identify business process enhancement opportunities, assist in the design & implementation of such, and help maintain operational efficiency of the new processes
- Understand financial results for each month-end and investigate variances when actual results do not meet expectations including margin analysis and operating expenses
- Master Data: ensure the integrity and functionality of item master data at setup and continuous maintenance; be the Primary Finance contact for the Annex’s new Item Master Data requests in workflow
- Maintain application of overhead cost allocation methodologies and support new product development, product profit/loss analysis, and drive clear visibility of performance of the business
- Participate cross functionally with teams across Ardent Mills, like Sales, Ops, RQT, Marketing, IT, Supply Chain, etc. for new Annex product launches & commercializations, contributing timely costing information that is complete and accurate
- Assist in the design, implementation, and further optimization of new ERP systems as a SME for unique Annex AG & HW and IBR business needs
- Assist in the integration of new businesses and accounting for new production capabilities
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or other relevant concentration
- 3+ years of progressive professional experience in Accounting/Finance Analysis roles
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or another relevant credential desired
- Blend of Public Accounting (Audit) and Private Industry experience desired
- Experience designing and preparing Journal Entries where you applied GAAP; experience applying managerial accounting practices to analyses and reporting; experience applying judgment in financial accounting
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced, transactional environment where you demonstrated breadth across multiple functional areas. (i.e., “wore a lot of hats”)
- Prior experience working in a Manufacturing/Inventory business where you applied various Valuation methodologies and Cost Allocation methods
- Demonstrated strong financial reporting and technical skills (both GAAP and mgmt. reporting) with expertise in Business Process and Data Analytics
- Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls over business and financial processes; experience reviewing the operational effectiveness of such
- Demonstrated communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to solve problems simply and respectfully in a team environment

Travel up to 15%, will include any Ardent Mills facilities

COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION:
We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $67,563.39 - $90,112.67, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - MIP, 5% Annual.
