Ka-Pop! was founded in 2017 to bring authenticity, taste, and joy back to healthy snacking. We believe that non-GMO, allergy-free, and vegan products do not have to be boring and taste like cardboard – allowing consumers to Indulge Fearlessly. The role will report to the VP of Operations and manage the organization’s entire purchasing activities. This person will ensure the timely ordering and delivery of all raw materials using established forecasting methods, financial record keeping with our accounting department, and rigorous follow-up with all of our vendors. This individual will also monitor inventory levels, build and maintain vendor relationships, analyze key commodity trends, establish annual contracts, and continuously search for new suppliers and negotiate better agreements. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (this is not all-encompassing. Stay on your feet… Duties and responsibilities may change):
- Enter, track, and follow-up on all purchase orders to assure timeliness of incoming goods orders and maintaining constant production. Take proper corrective action on delinquent orders.
- Maintain excellent relationships with outside vendors and review, implement, and negotiate contracts and various purchasing agreements to optimize costs and quality of raw materials.
- Monitor and hold accountable suppliers to ensure that they effectively provide materials within quality specifications and timeliness of delivery.
- Explore and recommend alternative suppliers for improved cost, quality, and lead times.
- Solicit and analyze quotations for new ingredient items for the R&D department’s new product development.
- Maintain vendor and raw material specification and certification files to meet internal Food Safety requirements.
- Coordinate with VP of Operations & Production Scheduler to ensure raw material inventory levels are appropriate for the short and long term material usage forecasts.
- Maintain raw material costing and lead times database.
- Manage and oversee purchasing of all production and office consumable supplies.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to maintain invoice and payment records, and reconcile vendor bills.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Manager to assure proper incoming receiving & storage procedures are followed.
- Maintain proficiency in automated systems used for purchasing functions such as inventory control, vendor contract information, cost control and bid analysis.
- Maintain currency on latest products and trends by reading trade publications, attending seminars and trade shows, developing and maintaining vendor contacts, and monitoring commodity ingredient pricing trends.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Requirements):
- Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, supply chain, or similar or at least five years direct experience in purchasing or supply chain in manufacturing environment
- Great with negotiation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent skills with Excel
- Proficient with Windows computers and business software such as Quickbooks and ERP’s
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize and organize efficiently
- Positive, upbeat, and professional attitude when interacting with everyone
- Ability to meet tight timelines
Nice-to-Have’s:
- CPG experience, especially in the Food Space
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and our Company’s size – with the pay range between $65,000-75,000 + Bonus. It will include ownership interests in the Company as well!
