JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Marketing Department, the Junior Front-End Website Developer is responsible for development enhancements to the nathab.com website.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
To perform this job successfully, the applicant must be able to execute the following duties. Additional duties may be added or assigned at any time.
Front-End Website Development
- In collaboration with the Lead Developer & Designer, write well-designed, efficient code to enhance website functionality and user experience for external and internal users.
- Identify, troubleshoot and address website issues.
- Test website updates across browsers and devices.
Project Management & Communication
- Work within a proprietary content management system to develop a deep understanding of its inner workings and oversee its usage by various departments, including Marketing, Operations, and Adventure Specialists.
- Manage projects and coordinate website content population with internal website team.
- Clearly communicate important CMS/admin/technological changes, processes and timelines to affected managers and departments.
- Interface with IT Systems and other developer teams to integrate databases as needed and coordinate their communications with Lead Developer & Designer.
- Work with Director of Digital Marketing to assess website usage, analytics and SEO considerations.
- Document and continually update website style guide.
- Create tutorials as needed for training purposes.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3+ years’ experience writing clean, modular HTML from designs in Adobe XD or similar design software.
- 1-3+ years’ experience writing clean, modular, responsive CSS.
- 1-3+ years’ experience writing Javascript and/or jQuery.
- 1-3+ years’ experience using Visual Studio Code or similar editor (Atom, Sublime, etc).
- A plus if you have experience with SASS, GitHub Desktop, Codekit, and/or Linux Shell.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills along with a demonstrated passion for problem solving and quickly learning new technical skills on the job.
- Excellent project management, organizational and communication skills. Ability to synthesize feedback from users across departments and distill down to a concrete action plan for optimized front and back end user experience. Ability to balance competing priorities, goals and timelines with technological feasibility and efficiencies.
- Excellent attention to detail and dedication to consistency including thoroughness in testing and quality control.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, with high levels of integrity, maturity and enthusiasm.
- Possess a demonstrated passion for travel/tourism, nature/wildlife or related fields. International travel experience preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee will also be required to write and type. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation commensurate with experience: Base salary range of $60,000-$70,000 USD, plus annual bonus.
This position comes with generous Paid Time Off and paid holidays. Benefits include site inspection on Natural Habitat Adventures trips and discounts on outdoor gear and clothing Eligibility for medical insurance, participation in 401(k) with company match and parental leave after a predetermined period of time.
LOCATION
Nat Hab currently has a hybrid work model, with some days working in-person at the office (optional) and some days working from home for those employees who live near the Nat Hab headquarters in Boulder County, Colorado. This is subject to change as the COVID-19 situation evolves. Residing in the Denver metro area is preferred but not required.
