The FP&A Senior Director, together with the CFO, is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial forecasts, annual budget process, operating plan variance analysis, M&A financial activities, and assisting with investor relations. The ideal candidate has deep experience across various business units in a CPG company and is comfortable rolling their sleeves up to get the job done and deliver results. They have a great track record working across lines of businesses and are adept in learning the key drivers of each business line so that they can help tell the story and consult on levers to pull to continue growing strong top and bottom-line results. This is a greenfield opportunity where you can build this function for a dynamic brand and an exciting high-growth public company. While starting off as a very senior individual contributor, we expect this role to build and manage a team over time. This position reports directly to the CFO and has excellent growth prospects.
This position may be remote but preference will be given to candidates in the western US.
Initial Responsibilities include:

Contribute to the development of and support the Laird Superfood (LSF) strategic plan.

Use creative ideas and financial analysis to strengthen the LSF brand.

Build effective partnerships across all business areas, and strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the business to effectively translate business needs and outcomes to accurate, consistent modeling.

Advise the Executive team using financial modeling, forecasts, and data analysis.
-
Analyze and make recommendations on improving current processes and practices.
-
Have hands on communication with the CFO, CEO, COO and Board of Directors.

Ensure consistency and accuracy in revenue forecasting and departmental budgeting.

Maintain and enhance financial models to project long term growth & determine the impacting business factors.

Responsible for reporting trends and variance analysis from plan.

Provide detailed analysis and commentary on business results.

Prepare executive summaries for topics such as market analyses, macro-economic conditions, and financial metrics demonstrating an ongoing understanding of key markets, competition, and economic conditions.

Assist with investor relations and quarterly earnings preparation.

Leverage systems such as Netsuite, Tableau, and Shopify to present meaningful, concise information.

Perform financial reviews to evaluate historical earnings and assets of M&A targets.

Develop pro forma financial models and valuation analyses in support of potential acquisitions.

Support the business throughout all stages of M&A activity from deal sourcing to financial modeling and integration.
Requirements and Working Characteristics:

BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, or similar field; MBA preferred.

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in finance or a related analytical field; experience in a publicly-traded, high-growth company preferred

5+ years experience managing a broad range of team members

Extensive financial modeling and analysis experience

Solid experience with M&A advisory, execution, and/or integration

Strong sense of urgency and an understanding of peaks and valleys in scheduling demands of FP&A function for a public company

Experience performing financial and ad hoc analyses using advanced Excel functionality and providing recommendations for strategic decision-making

Detail-oriented and data-driven; comfort with large volumes of complex data

Strong resourcefulness and ability to find or develop compelling data given limited resources and timing

Ability to communicate down, up and at a peer level, as well as quarterback cross functional processes while communicating effectively at all levels in the organization

Proven track record for building trusting relationships with business partners

Advanced skills in Excel modeling; experience and ability to use Netsuite or similar ERP systems
