Job Description
We are seeking a mid-to senior level Hydrogeologist with an emphasis in groundwater modeling, to join our Boulder, Colorado based professional environmental consulting firm. The successful candidate will provide groundwater modeling and quantitative hydrogeologic support for a variety of clients. As a key member of our team, you will be involved in a broad range of responsibilities including:
Responsibilities:
- Provide geological and hydrogeologic technical expertise on projects
- Execute on projects and provide technical quantitative hydrogeologic knowledge in areas such as (but not limited to): groundwater investigation and supply studies; groundwater/surface water interaction; groundwater modeling; NPDES, LUST, RCRA, NEPA, and CERCLA
- Apply knowledge of geology and hydrogeology to aid development and management of groundwater resources for clients
- Evaluation and interpretation of pumping/slug test data
- Groundwater model construction
- Interpret and analyze various forms of geologic and hydrogeologic data to build a conceptual model of the groundwater regime including contamination
- Participate with a team of scientists and engineers to perform groundwater flow and transport modeling in support of project work (environmental, water supply, mining, oil and gas, etc.)
- Position may include task/project management opportunities
- Preparation of technical reports and presentations
- Working within project deadlines
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:Â
- MS or Ph.D. degree in geoscience or environmental engineering with specialization in quantitative hydrogeology and modeling
- Minimum of 5 years of modeling experience
- Professional registration(s) or certifications preferred, but not required
- Requires proficiency in applying numerical (eg. MODFLOW) and analytical(eg. AQTESOLV) to groundwater engineering problems; familiarity with Excel, Access, SURFER, a model development GUI and some experience with GIS
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluency in a second language is a plus
- Experience in preparing data analysis sections of consulting project reports is required
- Some level of programming skill is a plus
