The Vice President of Corporate Accounting will have the opportunity to define the structure of the accounting function and to expand the accounting team to deliver quality results. Reporting directly to the CFO, he or she will create processes and policies that ensure timely delivery of accurate financial reports, facilitate the smooth operation of all financial systems, and support the rapid growth of the company while at the same time controlling costs. He or she must be able to quickly build rapport and effective relationships guided by creativity, collaboration, honesty, emotional intelligence, and a sense of humor. This will be backed by an entrepreneurial attitude mixing ‘can-do’ with ‘roll up your sleeves’, as well as great communication skills and a strong sense of ethics. At the same time, he or she must possess strong analytical skills, exemplary organizational skills, and a passion for details. The ability to prepare and analyze financial reports, manage multiple projects on tight deadlines, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information are all critical in this role quickly and accurately.
Specific accountabilities will include:
- Operational
- Optimize the accounting system and enhance accounting department use of software and integration of software into accounting processes and procedures;
- Timely, accurate and efficient monthly accounting close;
- Manage accounting functions on a day-to-day basis including accounts receivable, accounts payable, government accounting, cost accounting, payroll, treasury management, and general ledger accounting;
- Manage cash; monitor daily balances, receipts and disbursements, and work with FP&A to maintain rolling cash flow forecasts;
- Perform technical accounting issue research and resolution as necessary;
- Assist the CFO and the FP&A team with the annual budgeting process, evaluate business unit performance against budget, and support the development of forecasts to provide an accurate projection of financial performance;
- Oversee the accounting aspects of future acquisitions, including accounting related due diligence efforts and purchase price accounting activities.
- Work with the Company’s General Counsel to lead the Company’s Disclosure Committee including the creation of the chain of certifications required to support the CEO/CFO Section 302 Certifications.
- Financial Reporting
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations, including consolidation of multiple entities;
- Preparation/review of quarterly financial statements, footnotes and MD&A for SEC reports including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and more;
- Participate in the preparation of the monthly internal management financial reporting package, including variance analysis;
- Support the creation of periodic Board of Directors reporting packages;
- Prepare and present financial results and accounting matters to the Audit Committee.
- Manage the preparation of financial information as required for Government Contracting.
- Ensure the maintenance of appropriate documentation required for compliance with periodic Government Contracting Audits.
- Manage the annual financial audit process performed by our independent CPA firm;
- Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations, including consolidation of multiple entities;
- Internal Controls
- Develop, analyze, document and implement internal controls;
- SOX Compliance including governance, risk, and controls
- Develop, maintain and enhance accounting and finance policies, processes and procedures to comply with US GAAP;
- Seek opportunities to revise or create new policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting group;
- Other
- Responsible for local, state and federal tax compliance and reporting;
- Establish and implement short and long-range accounting department goals, objectives, policies and procedures;
- In conjunction with the VP of Human Resources, ensure accurate and timely payroll, ensure accurate payment of bonuses and commissions, and manage the financial aspects of employee benefits, including health insurance and the 401(k) program.
- Work with the CFO to ensure adequate and appropriate insurance coverage.

- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, or similar field
