Job Description:

The Chef Ann Foundation seeks a seasoned Senior Director of Development to refine and execute an annual fundraising strategy while expanding CAF’s support base, diversifying sustainable funding streams and engaging donors with our programs and services. The position will emphasize identifying, cultivating and soliciting major donors, family foundations, state and federal opportunities,  and partnerships.  This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and oversees a Grant Manager, Donor Relations Manager and contracted support. The lists below cover the majority of tasks for this position; however, additional responsibilities may be assigned. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Refine and execute an annual fundraising strategy
  • Coordinate with Marketing on donor and funding messaging, including strategizing and managing funding campaigns
  • Manage grants program, including submission calendar, proposal and budget development, grant compliance and reporting and management of grant writer
  • Maintain ongoing relationships and identify new individual, corporate, foundation and government prospects
  • Establish new funding streams that support existing and new programming
  • Monthly reporting and individual engagement with Founder, CEO and Board of Directors
  • Ensure proper reporting for all funders and partners, including Quarterly Impact Report and oversight of grant reports
  • Manage development budget and reconcile monthly development reports
  • Foster existing and new relationships with key stakeholders
  • Display deep understanding and  knowledge of the Chef Ann Foundation mission
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of the organization’s history and current programs

Essential Traits:

  • A passion for food systems and a strong interest in childhood wellness; demonstrated commitment to school food reform preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with high net worth donors and familiarity with fundraising and philanthropy
  • Proven experience with donor cultivation and solicitation
  • Experience with prospecting and screening  potential donors
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and council individuals and families on their philanthropy decision making and planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Flexible mindset and innovative thinker
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the development field with a proven fundraising track record, CFRE certification preferred
  • Familiarity with prospecting resources, online fundraising channels and campaign software
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience developing and maintaining productive working relationships with executive teams, board members and donors
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or CRM software preferred 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite platforms 
  • Ability to travel as needed 
  • Ability to work virtually

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation ranges between $103,000 - $128,000 per year and will be commensurate with the candidate’s previous experience and credentials. The Chef Ann Foundation is a great place to work and provides its staff with a competitive benefits package, including health insurance reimbursement, professional development, a generous paid time off program, and a 403(b) retirement plan. We are a fully-remote organization whose headquarters are located in Boulder, CO, with team members spread across the US.
