The Production Manager will be responsible for the pre-production planning and supervision of a complex production process. The successful candidate will have well-developed production planning skills in a process manufacturing environment, using modern analytical and Inventory/MRP software tools. In addition, he or she must have successfully managed one or more teams of people to achieve production goals of quantity and quality.
Tasks will include:
- Creating and maintaining a viable production schedule, ensuring that products are produced on time, and that the process is cost-effective. Monitoring production processes and adjusting schedules as needed.
- Identifying human and material resources necessary to accomplish the work, estimating costs and setting quality standards.
- Monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programs, and ensuring ingredient availability and WIP inventory control.
- Supervising and reviewing worker performance and identifying training needs.
- Developing and guiding continuous improvement in product and workforce quality and efficiency.
- Overseeing work order management, including accurate creation and prioritization, and verification of formulas.
- Evaluating, recommending, and maintaining necessary equipment & facilities.
- Working cooperatively with management to implement the company's policies and achieve outcomes that meet or exceed stated business goals and objectives.
- Effectively liaising with other departments, suppliers and managers. Cooperatively manage backorders and purchase orders, along with the order fulfillment and quality control teams.
- Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.
- Implement and manage Good Manufacturing Practices in the facility.
- Focus on reduction of waste in the production department and processes.
- Along with the General Manager and Director, Business Development, manage outsourced product inventory to ensure appropriate lead time on ordering to meet upcoming sales demand.
- Create a process to ensure raw materials remain stocked at all times, so there are no delays in production.
Job Requirements:
- 2+ years as a pre-production planner in Process Manufacturing using advanced software tools. Experience with KANBAN, and inventory management is a big plus.
- 2+ years' experience as an Operations or Production Manager.
- 2+ years' management experience in direct manufacturing operations.
- Implementation experience with lean manufacturing processes.
- Implementation experience with GMP Certification.
- Read, write and speak English to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management, including technical topics.
- Accurately utilize mathematical and statistical tools as needed for data management, data analysis, statistical applications and report generation.
- Strong skill set in Google Suite applications.
- Adobe Illustrator Experience a plus, but not required.
- This is a management position and you must be willing to work night and weekends if required and be on call as needed. This is not a norm, but if we have a huge order come in, then it is all hands on deck.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to wear protective gloves, safety glasses and hearing protection while on the job. Fairly typical manufacturing environment with exposure to odors, noise, chemicals, etc. Must be able to be mobile throughout the workday, and lift at least 50 lbs.
Minimum Experience Required: 2 years
