The Brand Manager position is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Marketing team of one of the fastest growing brands in the natural foods industry. The candidate will play a key role in the development and implementation of marketing strategy, goals & plans while maintaining a deliberate, laser focus on initiatives that will have measurable impact on brand value to aid in achieving both company and department goals. The candidate should support a positive company culture and embody the brand personality and ideals in daily job functions as well as colleague interactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Brand Manager - Confections, position is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the marketing team of a fast-growing brand in the natural foods industry. The candidate will play a key role in the development and implementation of brand and marketing strategy and supporting the launch of innovation within the confections category. Additionally, they’ll manage goals and brand planning while maintaining a deliberate, laser focus on initiatives that will have measurable impact on brand value to aid in achieving both company and department goals.
- P&L Responsibility
- Develops annual brand plans and is accountable for the profit/loss for Justin’s confections business.
- Monitors and tracks and reports regularly on financial performance to ensure delivery of sales and profit plans. This includes working closely with Sales and Sales Strategy on volume and trade spend, coordinating with Accounting and Operations on cost of goods, volumes and managing assigned marketing budget with Sr. Brand Manager (master brand/confections) to the appropriate spend, and working closely with Sales managing to key category resets, customer meetings, aligning priorities and creating strategies to support the assigned brands sell-in and in market success.
- Brand Strategy
- Manages development and leads execution of brand strategies and annual brand marketing plans for Justin’s confections business, including business objectives, consumer and channel strategies, and translation of strategies to the consumer through elements of the marketing mix working cross functional within the organization and marketing team.
- Drives organization and customer engagement, alignment and passion for brand strategy and annual plans.
- Provides thought leadership for confections business to strategically grow, achieve results and analyze new opportunities to win.
- Insight Development
- Works with Consumer Insights to develop market research plans through internal, external, primary and secondary resources.
- Translates insights into actionable consumer driven marketing and innovation plans and identifies areas for additional actionable learning opportunities.
- Understand and communicate brand’s unique selling propositions to key stakeholders including the internal executive teams, cross functional teams, corporate, suppliers, retailers and consumers.
- Project Management
- Manage all brand projects including, but not limited to, advertising, merchandising, promotions, shopper marketing, tradeshow support and innovation support.
- Lead development of project briefs that give focused direction to internal teams/agencies to develop world class programs that build equity and deliver results.
- Ensure integration of all elements of marketing mix, driving cohesive and impactful messaging and trademark consistency in all communications.
- Provides insight and direction for cross-functional teams through the company. Interacts with seasoned internal, agency team members and freelancers.
- Provides relationship management with external agencies, vendors, or business partners as needed and available budget for management of trade group priorities.
- Innovation
- Supports innovation/renovation projects, working with cross-functional teams in brand extension and renovation innovation efforts.
- Has input in the development of innovation pipeline. In conjunction with the Sales Strategy team, develops sales support materials for major programs and new item launches.
- Works closely with Consumer Insights on the execution of consumer research and new product design and cross-functionally with Operations QA and Regulatory and Project Managers to bring products to market.
- Leads projects that may include new platform innovation, packaging redesigns, product formulation changes, line extensions, sales collateral development, new channel development and supports development of launch plans such as shopper, digital, owned and earned media tactics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- A Bachelor's degree.
- 2+ years of brand management experience.
- A pattern of initiative and success.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment on a variety of complex projects.
- Strong analytical and time management skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated creative thinking skills.
- Demonstrated aptitude and effectiveness in budget and financial management.
- P&L management experience.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred
- MBA.
- CPG experience with natural/organic products.
- Fundamental understanding of syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, Spins, etc.).
LOCATION: Boulder, CO
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel may be necessary 25-50% of the time (depending on home base).
SALARY: $90,000 to $110,000
