Position Summary: 

Operations Associate is a full-time, long term role. This position will be the point person for pre-production set-up, scheduling, and procurement. The Operations Associate will have a high degree of responsibility and huge growth opportunities off the bat. This is a high-paced role that demands someone who is detail-oriented, scrappy,  comfortable wearing a lot of different hats, and is excellent at multitasking. 

This position is remote but may require quarterly travel to co-manufacturing facilities and trade shows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

What you’ll do right off the bat:

  • Procurement – Lead ingredient and packaging procurement to ensure consistent supply and quality from primary and secondary sources (specifications, requirements, pricing, logistics, etc.). Work cross-functionally with Operations and Marketing to ensure that materials are on time, up to date, and up to quality requirements. 
  • Negotiations and Contracts - Lead purchasing negotiations and develop action plans for the full impact: direct and indirect spends. 
  • Supplier partnerships - Maintain and develop current and new vendor relationships. Manage supplier on-boarding including documentation and support for Organic Certification and manufacturing needs.
  • COGS Management - Own both negotiated and spot packaging and ingredient costs and deliver on COGS / Financial company goals. Continually drive savings through managed sourcing controls.
  • Inventory Management - Work with co-packers to maintain an up to date inventory database and create accurate buying forecasts. 
  • Production Scheduling - Create and maintain production orders with the co-packer. See productions through to ensure that productions are executed in a timely, well documented manner. 
  • Innovation to Commercialization support – Coordinate with and support R&D with current and pipeline innovation needs (ingredients, research projects, managing timelines). Support on-boarding of ingredients, maintenance of supplier database. 

What you’ll grow into:

  • Arrange inventory transportation to and from fulfillment centers. Work closely with third party logistic providers and freight brokers to ensure on time, cost efficient delivery options. 
  • Process and arrange outgoing orders to distributors. Includes order creation, logistical fulfillment, and updating buyers about inventory constraints. 
  • Monitor the status of orders in transportation to distribution centers and notify buyers of freight delays to POs.
