As our Director, Brand Management you will be playing a vital role in driving the business and brand with consumers through leadership in consumer insights, brand vision and integrated marketing programs, driving us forward on our mission to #KickSugar. This role reports to the CMO and will be remote in any PST time zone of the United States (with periodic required travel to Candyland HQ (our office) in Vancouver, Canada, when safe to do so).
This is a 6 month contract position from August 2022 to February 2023.

Marketing at SmartSweets creates winning ideas that drive consumer value and energize the brand and business. Consumers are at the center of everything we do, and our team translates passion for the consumer into business results. We use consumer insights to develop and implement marketing plans, create and evaluate business-building projects, and commercialize new products.
The Director of Brand Management will develop highly effective marketing programs based on a deep consumer, brand and business understanding. This includes brand strategy, marketing plans across paid channels, new product launches, packaging oversight and shopper marketing.
The Director of Brand Management will also be responsible for developing two direct reports: 1) Shopper Marketing Specialist and 2) Digital Marketing Specialist, as well as managing digital agency relationships.
How You Will Support Our Mission:
- Sets strategic direction/briefs for brand campaigns, rapid paid advertising creative, new products, and packaging
- Leads analysis of marketing programs, share changes, and business trends
- Main partner with sales in shopper marketing programs, category growth rationale and consumer initiatives for top customers
- Main partner with R&D in new product development & commercialization
- Acquisition: Delivers on ROI of advertising spending and continues to optimize that ROI based on channel, creative, and targeting changes
- Leads any cross-marketing efforts such as broadscale packaging or claims changes
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives (ship/share reporting, long range planning, sales & operation planning, 3D integration, forecasts, Board decks, sales releases, leadership team updates)
You Have:
- General management/strategic mindset and brand management training at a consumer packaged goods company
- Minimum of 5 years experience in brand marketing at a CPG company, including managing individual contributors
- Strong communication skills, written and oral
- Analytical skillset which means you can comfortably 1) present marketing ROI to senior leadership 2) represent marketing in S&OP and 3) lead analysis on drivers of share or other business results
- Experience working on a small/fast-moving brand with less resources
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and be a do-er.
- Fluency in digital paid and organic marketing, including DTC/e-commerce
- Team player with ability to foster strong relationships with cross-functional peers
- Positive outlook, self-motivated, high energy for #kicksugar mission
