Full Job Description

DMA is seeking a highly competent Senior Mechanical Engineer who is ready to step into a leadership position. Our ideal candidate is focused, gets things done and enjoys life in the outdoors. They are passionate about designing energy-efficient solutions for the built environment while improving internal processes, developing a team, and interacting with a variety of clients. This position offers a rewarding growth opportunity for a motivated individual.

We are a small collaborative group, and the Senior Mechanical Engineer (SME) will be a crucial part of our team, leading DMA’s Energy and Design verticals. We are seeking candidates who share our passion for making the world a better place through more efficient building systems and processes. The SME will immediately join the EOS® Traction leadership team defining quarterly rocks based upon the company’s vision and long-term goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage Energy and Design projects, delivering high value on time and on budget
  • Support the Principal Engineer and Commissioning Engineering on commissioning projects
  • Research solutions and present the research back in a concise manner to the rest of the team
  • Provide drawing QA/QC Redline clear and effective notes for support staff to incorporate
  • Select equipment and create equipment schedules
  • Spearhead development and refinement of design standards and processes
  • Support sales process by defining project scope and associated fees
  • Develop realistic and achievable budgets and resource plans for the team based on project tasks
  • Perform building load calculations
  • Review energy models for quality assurance

You are a Mechanical Engineer who has already obtained your PE license. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and seek to be a part of something creative and impactful in the built environment. You understand how buildings are constructed, have the capacity to do the engineering cradle to grave, and are highly competent at both project management and client interaction. You are confident in your skills and knowledge, willing to step outside of your comfort zone, and able to lead a team to a complete solution. You strive to continuously learn about new technologies and processes. You are a good communicator and can describe complex ideas in a layperson’s terms.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum 5 years experience in HVAC system design
  • Exposure to and experience in a variety of projects and system types
  • Above-average skills in AutoCAD, average proficiency in REVIT, proficiency in Bluebeam
  • Comprehensive understanding of design documents, ability to effectively create redlines and communicate design changes to the design team
  • Ability to perform drawing QA/QC
  • Ability to perform building loads and quality assurance on energy models
  • Concrete knowledge about current HVAC equipment technologies and current best industry design practices, along with an eye for emerging practices and technologies
  • Ability to develop, refine and create documentation for design standards and processes
  • Understanding of how a building is constructed from the foundation to the installation of fixtures
  • General knowledge of building commissioning
  • Demonstrated ability to create realistic and achievable project scopes, timelines, resource plans and budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex projects at any given time, prioritize effectively and consistently be on time and on budget
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as to work independently
  • Self-aware and accountable
  • Ability to understand risk, fail fast and small, learn from failure and ensure the same mistakes are not repeated
  • Some experience managing, mentoring and supporting junior members of a team

Location and Hours

DMA’s offices are located in beautiful Golden, Colorado. This is a full-time position. While there is flexibility to work remotely from time to time, the SME must be local (or willing to relocate) and able to work in the office a majority of the time. To accommodate our active outdoor lifestyle, we offer flexibility in workdays and hours so long as quality work is completed on time, team communications are effective, and client requirements are met.

Compensation & Benefits
The base salary for this position will be between $100,000 and $130,000, commensurate with experience. We offer a generous compensation package that includes unlimited PTO, flexible work schedule, profit sharing, health and retirement benefits, family leave, and gym membership. Professional development is encouraged and compensated. This is a key position for our team and as such, we are offering a low-carbon signing bonus that will be personalized to the individual.
