JOB DESCRIPTION:
The role will report to the CEO and is responsible for the development, implementation and improvement of quality programs associated with FDA FSMA regulations. This individual will provide strategic direction and guidance for manufacturing, quality systems, suppliers, and raw material processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Safety
- Develop, manage and responsibility of the quality and food safety systems.
- Maintain SQF certification process.
- Maintain FSMA compliance.
- Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
- Management of third party audits and all necessary paperwork
- Oversight of daily SOPs and logs to meet or exceed all food related current good manufacturing practices
- Main point of contact for food safety related paperwork including, but not limited to COAs and compliance paperwork/websites.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- Investigate and correct customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
- Maintain quality standards for all recipes and confirm they are being followed by the cooking staff.
- Supervise the department engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
- Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
- Interpret quality control and food safety philosophy to key personnel within company.
- Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
- Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
- Provide and oversee inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
- Address nonconformities from previous internal and external audits.
- Following-up on and closing pending preventive and corrective action requests.
- Ensure that documentation and design controls are appropriate for organization. Administer document control and configuration management system.
- Overseeing established calibration and testing program.
- Assist the management team and provide QA support as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Requirements):
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or similar degree with at least three years direct experience in food safety and quality assurance
- Experience with auditing and training
- Expertise in implementing food safety and quality management programs
- Certified as a Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and SQF Practitioner
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient with Windows computers and Microsoft Office applications
- Highly organized and detail orientated
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize and organize efficiently
- Positive, upbeat, and professional attitude when interacting with everyone
- Ability to meet tight timelines
