Full Job Description

Currently, we have an opening for a Controller in our Louisville, CO location.

The Controller will be a hands-on working manager of the Finance department including managing, motivating, and developing staff and optimizing the Finance function in close collaboration with Executive leadership and colleagues across the organization. This position supports senior management via the generation of critical Month-, Quarter-, and Year-End close activities and associated timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and perform, hands-on, month-, quarter-, and year-end close functions in an accrual accounting environment – including responsibility for publishing timely, accurate financial statements and key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • Review and approve accounting entries performed by department personnel.
  • Complete weekly borrowing base calculations and other reporting as required by the company’s lender.
  • Oversee the Sales & Use Tax programs including Avalara and manual Use Tax calculations.
  • Lead and manage mid-year and year-end reviews and/or audits by the outside accounting firm.
  • Mentor, motivate and develop Finance team members.
  • Educate non-finance departments on financial metrics and provide insights into ways to improve.
  • Keep up to date with the accounting industry and with GAAP best practices to alert management to changes that affect the organization.
  • Assist in the annual budget process as well as updating projections throughout the year.
  • Work with outside tax accounting firm to complete state and federal income tax returns and record timey accruals throughout the year.
  • Monitor and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) to ensure accurate financials and appropriate use of company assets.
  • Oversee debt and collections activities performed by staff.
  • Review and ensure timely performance of, monthly GL and sub-ledger account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, and of other trial balance account analyses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with an emphasis in accounting
  • Certified Management Account (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – may consider a CPA Candidate
  • 7 or more years of related experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting management role
  • Extensive ERP systems experience, with NetSuite operational experience preferred
  • Manufacturing background in a job/batch processing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel

Ideal Candidates have the following traits:

  • Professional Accounting Certification or imminent candidature
  • Experience with Business Analytic tools
  • Batch Processing in an ERP system
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite, Square and Avalara software
  • Mix of public and industry accounting and finance experience
  • Advanced understanding of cost and accrual accounting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, executive management and applicable third parties regarding the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading an accounting team with excellent team and individual member mentoring, training and development skills.
  • Independent drive and curiosity.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally to improve processes and create positive outcomes.
  • Proactive, able to work autonomously, with the ability to relate to and work with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a customer service orientation.
  • Personal interest and alignment with the company’s mission, culture and product and services offerings.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite and MS Office with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours when required to ensure timely and accurate generation of deliverables.

Compensation: $110,000 - $150,000 per year
