If so, you may be a great fit with us as a Storage OEM Account Manager, facilitating every initiative/sale through all aspects of the project from quote through delivery and beyond, ensuring customer happiness and a meaningful relationship. Reporting to the President, US Operations and working remotely, you would own the relationship with one large customer, as well as other customers that will be added as your capacity increases. You would be integral to our growth and would be making an incredibly valued contribution long-term with our customers and with us.
Employing approximately 200 people, BDT is headquartered on the edge of the Black Forest in Germany and is the leading developer and manufacturer of the most reliable tape storage automation systems for electronic data archiving and backup. BDT Products, Inc., the US subsidiary of BDT, is responsible for the management of business relationships with all Storage Automation OEM customers, including IBM, HPE, Fujitsu, and others.

What we’ll expect from you and what you'll be doing:

Leveraging your active listening skills, responsiveness, and ability to ask great questions to understand, clarify, communicate, respond to, and track client needs.

Using your excellent communication, curiosity, and people skills to collaborate with the Product Management, Order Management/Supply Chain, Purchasing, Quality, R&D (mechanical, electronic, software, and testing), Production, and Technical Services (Repair) teams on solutions to address client needs.

Using your leadership, people skills, attention to detail, solution-oriented critical thinking, and organization to manage all aspects of your projects including the creation of quotes, management of pricing/scope changes, contract compliance, resolution of customer issues, and ultimately, ensuring customer satisfaction and success.

With your strong understanding of business, data-driven strategic thinking, and proactivity, monitoring forecast and sales trends.

Coordinating launches of new products and new releases with customers.

Other duties as assigned.
Job requirements
-
Authorization to work anywhere in the US, and must reside in the Contiguous US (lower 48).

Minimum daily working time overlap of 3 hours with the 9-5 business day in Germany.

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well with people from different countries and cultures.

100% home office when not traveling, which will include 1-2 annual trips to Germany, 1-4 trips to each customer annually, and 2-4 annual trips for US team meetings.

B.S. / B.A. degree or equivalent experience.
-
Minimum of 5 years of a broad range of related experience required, ideally with OEM/large customer management experience.

Ideal but not required: Technical degree or working experience in Engineering or IT, especially IT products, tape automation, data storage and/or networking experience.

Ideal but not required: Program management, product management, quality, operations and/or product development experience.
-
German language knowledge a plus.
Salary of $130-145K plus generous benefits listed above. Note that the salary plus the benefits listed is the full compensation package. Since this is not a sales position with a quota, there is not a variable (commissions)Â component to compensation.Â
