Note: We are a 100% vaccinated company. All employees must either be fully vaccinated or in the process of becoming fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

We are looking for a startup-oriented VP of Finance to build and lead our Finance team. The ideal candidate has a forward-looking bias and believes that the highest, best use of timely and accurate accounting is to inform robust FP&A modeling to support strategic decision making. Such a candidate will likely possess 8+ years of experience in accounting, financial modeling, planning, and analysis, and have a track record demonstrating excellent technical skills and a willingness to get their hands dirty.

As the VP of Finance at Caliper Holdings, you’ll identify gaps in our finance and accounting capabilities and bridge those gaps while working to recruit, hire, and train the team you need to fill them permanently. We expect you to develop systems that provide financial and strategic insight through bottoms-up analysis, forecasting, and performance measurement. Your primary aim will be to ensure that our organization always has the financial information it needs to make considered, intelligent business decisions. This is a fast-paced role that requires the highest level of work ethic, the ability to document and automate processes, a collaborative mentality, and a passion for job spec cliches. You must be comfortable operating strategically under uncertainty, as we face a constantly changing regulatory landscape that presents both our biggest obstacle and greatest opportunity.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing standard operating procedures for our routine tasks
  • Hiring and training accounting resources to keep up-to-date books and assisting with periodic variance analysis
  • Leveraging/building internal tools and systems to quickly access data and present meaningful, concise information to various levels of management
  • Preparing, analyzing, and summarizing monthly financial reports using GAAP
  • Preparing, analyzing, and summarizing daily/weekly dashboard reports on key financials and operating KPIs
  • Developing operational and departmental budgets in conjunction with team leaders
  • Developing, executing, and effectively communicating significant analyses that identify meaningful trends and opportunities across the business
  • Maintaining ownership of comprehensive, driver-based financial models with an integrated set of financial statements, assumptions, and metrics for each of our operating companies and our business as a whole
  • Providing strong business analytic decision support on numerous revenue and cost initiatives, return on investment analyses, and/or other assigned projects
  • Creating and supporting both quantitative and qualitative analysis to influence strategic decision making, including market segmentation and sizing, market trend and competitive landscape analyses, new product introductions, pricing changes, strategic partnerships, and new markets

What we’ll love about you:

  • You’re an organized problem solver who can work through complex situations without panicking
  • You’re a team player with a distaste for mercenaries
  • You possess a deep love for spreadsheets and what they can tell you
  • You’re an emotionally mature adult who enjoys working with other emotionally mature adults
  • You have an inquisitive, curious nature that views ignorance as an opportunity to learn or teach
  • You’re willing to admit error quickly and move immediately on to improvement
  • You’re a clear communicator in whichever format you need to be
  • You have excellent time management skills

What you’ll love about us:

  • We are a team of competent, motivated, diverse, and decent adults.
  • We offer competitive compensation, 100% paid health benefits, sick leave, 401k, and a fun, relaxed office environment.
  • We value reasoned debate over political maneuvering.
  • We try to do the right thing and, more importantly, we try to identify and admit when we don’t.
  • We offer flexible PTO for all full-time employees. We too value health, relaxation, and spending time with friends and family.
  • We try very hard to make fire drills the exception, not the norm.

  • CPA and/or CFA required
  • Finance experience within a CPG or manufacturing organization a plus
  • Advanced skills in Google Spreadsheets or Excel, bonus points for SQL knowledge and/or experience with ERP software
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in accounting, financial modeling, planning and analysis, with a track record demonstrating excellent technical skills
