Job Description:

Looking for a career in the Craft Beverage Industry?  Stem Ciders is expanding its team and is seeking a highly motivated, hardworking individual to fill the position of Controller.  We’re having a lot of fun building a great company and we need a strong accounting/finance professional to partner with and help guide the rest of the operations.  The position is full-time, and will be offered a competitive compensation package including benefits.  At a minimum, candidates must possess the skills below and be able to thrive in a rapidly growing, fast-paced environment.  Strong preference given to candidates with prior craft cidery/brewery or food & beverage experience.  

Responsibilities:

• Develop, track and report key financial and operating metrics to facilitate near- and long-term strategic decision-making
• Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
• Manage all accounting operations including cash receipts and disbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable and accruals, inventory, fixed assets, revenue recognition
• Develop, implement and manage purchasing policies and procedures
• Issue timely and complete financial statements
• Develop, implement and enforce standard accounting policies and procedures of the organization including an effective month-end close process
• Assist in the development and the production of annual budget and forecasts
• Calculate variances from the budget and identify and analyze significant differences
• Assist with periodic tax filings in conjunction with tax advisor
• Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to other departments

Requirements:

• Strong operational accounting skills, financial skills and GAAP knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to assess, develop, enhance and implement accounting/finance policies, procedures and controls
• Hands-on, collaborative leadership style
• Effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills
• Strong work ethic and proactive attitude
• Excellent attention to detail
• Entrepreneurial personality
• Experience with QuickBooks is highly desired
• Experience with inventory management software is highly desired

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or MBA preferred
• Six Sigma preferred
