About the Position
As Account Manager, you will be the key touchpoint with chocolate makers and will be responsible for working with them to select and source high quality cacao beans, cacao butter, and cacao powder from across our offerings. Your role will be to ensure our customers have a fantastic experience working with Uncommon and to grow our sales of specialty cacao, by building strong relationships and communicating effectively with customers and with the UC team. This role will handle all sales processing for their accounts and will seek to grow Uncommon’s sales within important segments. This role reports to the Sales Director and is based in Denver, CO.
About You
- 2+ years experience working in a B2B Sales role that requires significant email and phone interaction
- Some industry knowledge of cacao and chocolate
- Self-driven and goal oriented, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team and independently.
Job Functions
Account management
- Build and maintain strong and positive business relationships with all customers in your segment through email, phone call, and social media interactions
- Educate chocolate makers about the different cacao offerings in the Uncommon portfolio and help chocolate makers determine the right cacao sources for their products
- Create and issue invoices, quote shipping, and manage follow-ups with customers to ensure successful delivery of cacao orders and ongoing purchases
- Track all information related to cacao sales and lead and customer accounts in Salesforce
- Drive towards sales targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Identify urgent and important outreach needed by Sales Director and CEO to specific customers
- Identify market demand opportunities and propose new business ideas to grow sales
Sales development
- Prospect, develop and convert leads in North America focusing on small scale chocolate makers
- Identify and build out lead lists and work with Sales Director & CEO to refine market strategy and sales tactics
- Support on sales analytics tracking and reporting
Product quality and development
- Learn to taste cacao samples as part of Uncommon’s Sensory Panel
- Regularly taste with the Uncommon team to evaluate new and existing cacao products
Marketing support
- Support the Uncommon Cacao sales and marketing teams as needed, including with posting on social media and developing newsletters
- Attend chocolate festivals, fairs and trade shows to meet with chocolate makers and grow the Uncommon Cacao community
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- 2+ years of B2B sales support or customer service experience
- Attention to detail, accuracy
- Strong digital skills: Microsoft Office (Excel required), Salesforce, Slack, Google Docs
- Excellent interpersonal, written, oral, and proofreading skills
- Dynamic, outgoing and loves to talk to customers
- A reliable team player with strong communication and organization skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and flexible environment
- Independent drive and ability to self-manage

Ideal Qualifications:
- Demonstrated passion for chocolate, quality food or ingredients, and/ or agriculture
- Prior specialty commodity experience preferred
