JOB TITLE:                Marketing Manager

DEPARTMENT:         Marketing

LOCATION:                Lakewood, CO with hybrid schedule (This is not a remote position)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for establishing a clear and effective strategy to build awareness and understanding of the organization and its mission, promote educational programs, and co-branding with our sponsors. This position will also be responsible for building NSP’s brand within the outdoor recreation industry and with new and diverse audiences. This position works directly with the Executive Director and maintains critical cross-functional relationships with the NSP team in sales and partnerships and member services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a strategic vision and plan to position and promote NSP and its programs, including goals, tactics, measurement and budget.
  • Develop a clear, consistent voice and identity for the organization.
  • Work with staff and vendors to develop NSP’s visual identity, including website and social media content.
  • Establish clear protocols, messaging and best practices for member and external communications, including social media policies.
  • Create visibility for NSP and its programs through paid and earned media, advertising, social media, event presence and other mediums.
  • Work with Member Services staff to develop and implement effective member communications that support recruitment and retention, including web and social media content, email newsletters, and printed materials.
  • Provide marketing and communications tools to specific entities within the organization, including education programs, geographic divisions, and specific patrols.
  • Help build new organizational relationships and alliances that reflect NSP’s priorities around equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Oversee the publication of 3x year printed magazine for NSP members.
  • Work alongside Sales & Partnerships staff to cultivate key industry partnerships and support them with marketing and communications programs.
  • Manage a professional staff. Manage interns and contractors and consultants as needed.
  • Manage and protect NSP’s trademarks and copyrights.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies, with a proven record of success generating visibility and brand awareness.
  • Extensive experience with social media as part of an integrated marketing strategy.
  • Experience developing clear measurements for marketing and communications reach and success. Ability to set targets, gather data, and present standards and progress for a variety of stakeholders, from staff and leadership to sponsors and partners.
  • Ability to receive and synthesize feedback from multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility, creativity and resilience; willingness to work with a small staff to serve a complex organization in a rapidly evolving industry.
  • Interest in skiing, snowboarding, cycling, or other outdoor recreation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least 7 years of marketing and communications experience, with progressive responsibilities, preferably in a nonprofit and / or membership organization.
  • Broad technology skills and experience; experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Experience with Project Management tools (Asana etc)
  • Experience with the latest social media scheduling tools, such as Hootsuite etc.
  • Experience working with highly engaged volunteer leadership.
  • Experience in a highly collaborative environment
  • Experience in a nonprofit organization and/ or membership association
  • Experience in the ski, bike and / or outdoor industry.
  • Patrol experience is welcome!

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel on occasion, including some overnight travel
  • Ability to participate in Ski Events on mountain.
  • Ability to take part in evening calls, and in meetings that accommodate a number of time zones.

Compensation:

  • Salary range for this role is $80,000–85,000 depending on experience. Benefits include: health insurance, 401(K), holidays, vacation, sick leave, a wellness benefit, and industry pro deals.
