Job Title: National Sales Director
Salary Range: $110,000-$130,000 per year + quarterly bonus
Reports to: CEO
Job Purpose Summary
WishGarden Herbs has built a strong foundation of in-house sales capabilities and is looking to expand and improve in key account and channel management. The National Sales Director will lead this new development while fostering the ongoing growth of the WishGarden Herbs brand. As a key member of our sales team, strategic contributions will play an essential role.
Essential Job Responsibilities (Function and Skills)
- Oversee and manage all retail sales activities to achieve maximum distribution of the company’s products in all retail channels (Natural, Conventional, Mass, Club, C-store, Ecomm Resellers, TBD)
- Manage all brokers and/or sale reps to meet goals and KPIs.
- Develop short- and long-term strategies to grow WishGarden Herbs in high and low penetration sales territories across the US.
- Identify tools needed to manage sales territories with brokers and/or sales reps.
- Develop and maintain sales budget for brokers and/or sales reps. Provide reports to prevent gaps and voids on shelf.
- Develop new business; identify prospective customers by utilizing network, market intelligence databases, as well as business directories, following leads from existing clients and attending trade shows and conferences.
- Participate in business activities (e.g., sales meetings, trade shows, promotion programs) in order to promote sales, increase product knowledge, and maintain good customer relations.
- Manage trade spend to maximize gross profit while maximizing sales.
- Support Product Development with new product launches and initiatives.
- Manage expense budget for sales related functions.
- Manage and staff booth for trade shows including scheduling, set up and tear down.
- Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added services provided.
- Educate customers about products, prices, availability, and product use.
- Provide product information and practical training to customer personnel.
- Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, preparing price quotes and product assortment suggestions, and filing reports.
- Work in close collaboration with other function leads (marketing, operations, and finance) as needed
- Lead, mentor, and motivate sales organization
- Have a flexible and positive mindset, be an impeccable communicator, weave your way between detail and big picture.
- Travel as needed 25-50% of time.
Education and/or Experience: Natural products industry experience is a plus with a minimum of 10 years sales experience.
- Experience in sales: Natural Supplement industry sales experience is preferred.
- Experience working with conventional and natural chains, distributors, and Ecomm resellers is ideal.
- Experience with managing brokers & sales reps on a national scale required.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as customer service and presentation abilities. Should also have demonstrated problem-solving ability and negotiation skills. Must have proficient computer skills; Good skills with Apple Office Products.
Language Skills: Comfortable speaking about health issues with sensitivity and within DSHEA guidelines is a must. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to professionally communicate with customers regarding common inquires or complaints
