Full Job Description
Sea to Summit is searching for a Finance Manager who will support our US operations. This role is based in Boulder, Colorado, and reports to the Group Financial Controller (based at Headquarters in Perth, Australia) with a dotted line into the General Manager-US (based at the US office in Boulder, Colorado). This individual will be a key business partner responsible for developing and maintaining financial reports, analyses, planning and budget control (Managerial and corporate reporting, audit and tax engagements). This position supervises and reviews the work of the finance team.
To be successful, they must be a collaborative problem-solver, who not only understands the numbers, but also the broader business context around them. This individual must be able to communicate effectively across the organization to provide critical information and escalate and address roadblocks. This is a critical role that will have a tremendous impact on Sea to Summit’s US business as the company continues to scale and grow globally.
 
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all financial functions of the business including the accuracy of the general ledger, ensuring all automated (from subsystems) and manual entries are reporting into SAP correctly
  • Oversee the accuracy of the biweekly payroll, approve for processing, record cash requirements in SAP and provide reports to staff accountant for recording in SAP
  • Oversee credit management, accounts receivable and accounts payable teams
  • Track and invoice global costs back to global finance for accurate intercompany accounting on a monthly basis
  • Record all actual landed costs in SAP and reconcile against the relevant payables
  • Assess financial activity, prepare monthly accruals and other journal entries for accurate financial reporting in accordance to International Accounting Standards, close the books for the month and report results to global finance in accordance with global deadlines, and prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Work with department heads to provide information for both capital and operating budget, consolidate at the total company level and communicate results to global finance
  • Prepare monthly actual v budget reporting and variance analysis. Prepare monthly financial forecasts including balance sheet, P & L and cash flow
  • Oversee all banking activity and ensure the accuracy of transactions within the checking account
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to determine income tax liabilities and remit payments to agencies accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Prepare monthly and/or quarterly filings and payments to all required agencies including regulatory agencies and outside sales (commission based) agencies
  • Oversee the company’s sales and use tax collection, filings, and payments
  • Oversee and/or prepare the company’s 1099 and W-2 reporting at year end. Review quarterly payroll tax filings for accuracy
  • Contribute financial and other advice for successful management, improved efficiencies, and expense control of the company as a member of the management team
  • Support global finance with due diligence and audits as necessary
  • Collaborate with various departments , maintain a flexible attitude and support the organizational objectives by carrying duties assigned by Group Financial Controller, along with other duties as assigned
Experience & Key Personal Qualities
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in leading and developing a small finance team
  • Previous experience reporting to remote direct manager on a different time zone
  • Well-developed analytical, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Broad understanding of financial/accounting principles
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in applying International and US Accounting Standards
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in Tax compliance
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Team oriented, results focused individual with hands-on style committed to delivering a very high-quality work product
  • Creativity and tenacity in analysis and problem solving
  • “Can-do” attitude; ability to work intensively with a full sense of ownership of the work product at all times
  • Demonstrates Adaptability & Flexibility & Resilience
  • Experience working with the headquarters team for a global brand
  • Able to accommodate weekly late afternoon meetings
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Executive presence and attention to detail are essential to this role
  • Experience with fast growing consumer brands sold through both retail and eCommerce channels
  • Self-starter and persistent, with strong analytical skills
  • Known for developing and delivering results on a timely basis
  • Able to work in an ambiguous, fast-growing, team-first environment
  • Must be able to pass a background check
Education
  • Bachelors in finance or accounting required
  • CPA Certification required
The salary range for this role is $108,000 - $130,000 based on experience, education and qualifications.  This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401K match, paid time off, community service leave, paid holidays, RTD Pass, gear allowance, dog friendly work environment and some other great perks.
