Position Summary

You will play a pivotal role on the People and Culture team. As a People and Culture team, we apply our professional expertise and integrate knowledge from other teams at Scout to develop programmatic and bespoke solutions that meet the needs of our company and our people.

You will lead three key areas of our People and Culture team, leveraging existing strengths into sustainable competitive advantages. The first-year focus of these three areas is listed in parentheses:

  1. Learning and Professional Development (L&PD) (50-60% of first-year focus)
  2. People and Culture Data Analytics (30% of first-year focus)
  3. Process Development and Improvement (10-20% of first-year focus)

Responsibilities

Lead our Learning and Professional Development (L&PD) strategy and execution:

  • Formalize and execute Scout’s strategy for L&PD, considering our competitive position, employee value proposition, investment, and other business considerations. Leverage existing internal resources and identify necessary external resources.
  • Develop and deliver training to support the L&PD strategy, using a combination of your own expertise, in-house resources, and external experts (with a heavy preference for the first two sources): Power Industry 101/201, corporate onboarding, executive leadership development, compliance training for managers, new manager leadership training, other compliance training, and other operational-focused trainings.
  • Create career progressions for each Scout team, leveraging your energy industry expertise and input from the team leaders.
  • Lead and/or facilitate trainings as appropriate.
  • Conduct solicitations, negotiate and manage contracts, including SOWs and contractor/consultant performance.

Lead People and Culture-related analysis:

  • Maintain and automate internal systems related to compensation and hiring.
  • Create and deliver regular reports on retention, compensation, hiring, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Leverage these to respond to ongoing requests for additional information on these topics.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits. Research and design compelling total rewards offerings to ensure that we attract, advance, and retain our top performers.
  • Update and streamline the personnel budget process and tools.

Process Development and Improvement:

  • Facilitate the development of processes to enhance performance, as requested by specific internal teams.
  • Support the integration of new processes resulting from our integration.

In order to deliver top-flight performance in each of the three strategic areas outlined above, the Director will…

Lead the administration of all related areas:

  • Procure and/or oversee systems needed to support P+C programs (e.g., learning management system).

Build collaborative relationships with other teams at Scout in order to:

  • Understand People and Culture dynamics and effectively position Scout as an employer of choice.
  • Develop comprehensive, innovative programmatic offerings that leverage Scout strengths to meet team member needs.
  • Build a robust, collaborative, productive team that enjoys working together.

Provide structural support to ensure industry-leading delivery of P+C initiatives:
